Driving my 79 Camaro to prom!

I would like to say the most important thing to me is my girlfriend's safety.... I do not speed with her in the car, I do not race with her in the car. As a boyfriend I will do my very best to get her to point A to point B in a safe but enjoyable manner. I DO have full intentions of putting a roll bar in this car in the very near future. I also keep a fire extinguisher in the back seat that is charged and ready to go! I have been racing cars now for 2 years. This doesn’t make me the best driver that can’t make mistakes but i do have experience behind the wheel for anyone’s concern. I know how the car acts and what it does. I have practiced in parking lots if the car ever did get away from me. Thank you and I hope you enjoy the video!

⁠​⁠@@greg5277this motor was originally in a 72 ventura that was way lighter of a car with 4.56 gears. the car was built to be a drag car. to test the car out before bringing it to the track me and my father would practice in a open parking lot. we got the car a little sideways and practiced how to maneuver out of it. if it did get out of control. thanks for commenting and good luck with yours!

Dude I graduated in 01 and while everyone was riding in limos my girl and I took my ratty ass 67 chevelle with a 410 SBC . Holes in the floors, no AC, just us and the machine. It was awesome! Only wish I would have recorded things back then like I do now. Awesome video man 💪🤘

Yes.... It's after the oil crisis therefore lacks any kind of power, yes Z28 doesn't actually really mean anything, yes it has miss matched panels. But that's what makes old cars have so much character, I remember seeing a true 67 GT500 that hadn't seen a lick of restoration and zero bodywork, it had dents, scratches, missing paint but man! It stood out of the crowd and in a good way. I doubt there was anything else at the prom that had as much character as your Mustang killer haha. Hope you and your missis had a great time :)

The not so perfect cars are the coolest! My friend has a old Ford Taunus 2.3 v6, thing sat for 30 years outside, but it looks cool with rust and dents ect.

@@leftlanegaming530 Yeah, I know someone (won't say who) who has an ex undercover what was called a "drug car". It was essentially a sleeper undercover police car, an XA 500 Falcon in green, never seen another one, let alone one that original. It hadn't run for 20 years but with a bit of love it started running fairly well and was very loud. It was the type of car you wouldn't want chasing you, because it would catch up with most high end cars in the day.

Cool ride dude. You remind me as my youth. Had a 80 Z-28. Still have it. since 92. Have a 5th gen camaro now. The 80 just needs some TLC. She'll be back on the streets again. Funny I went through the same thing. Cleaning the Z every time I picked up my GF (ex now) when we went out to dinner or heading out to Rock clubs and to after hour parties or out just driving around. @@mckrackin5324 Ha! Not really. I worked since I was 14. Back then that what kids did. You were allowed to. My Dad's business partner had businesses. Clothing stores that sold Levis etc. I worked there and I saved my money so by the time I was 17, I was able to buy one. It was $7,700.00 which was a lot of money back then. When I finally saved up enough money, I finally told my parents what I was going to do. My Mom said, NO WAY!, my Dad was impressed I saved my money and he was very supportive. I wouldn't drive it to school because I was always afraid that someone would damage it. I lived close enough that I could walk to school. Ironically when I did drive it to the prom, that was the first time most of the people at my high school saw my car. Some idiot keyed the door. I was devastated. 👍👍

Looks like an original 79 Z28, the blacked out windshield trim, and the thick grippy steering wheel give it away. Regular Camaros had Chrome around the windshield and back window, and a smooth steering wheel. This Z28 is begging for a transmission swap, a BorgWarner Super T10 4 speed like came in lot of them from the factory.

The aftermarket gauges are EXCELLENT, much better than the factory gauges and fit very well into the factory dash. 245 60 15 tires are the widest tires that will fit if the car has a stock ride height.
