The S2000 is much in the same vein as the other S-cars that proceeded it, a true sports car. These cars never offered a quiet ride, even when new. Honda was very intentional in designing the S2K as a roadster from the get go and it is at its best with the top down. The more twisty the road the better. I like these cars in their original form. If you prefer to change things up, I'd recommend that you not do anything irreversible and hang on to the original parts. Enjoy!

2001 S2000 here. Have one it for three years and love driving it! The shifting is so precise, the car is so light and ultra reliable. I can drive it like a hero and not committing a felony. Great overall car!

Get yourself some sticky tires and sport brake pads and take it to a track day. It's such a fun car to experience at the limit and grow as a driver. Best enjoyed with the top down. Don't bother using it as a daily, it's horrible at that. And put it away for the winter.

If are planning to play around with Suspension, get a really good one like KW or Oelins ( or TEIN etc.) because the OEM's are already very good and when lowering, make sure you put in the bumb steer Kit front and rear + roll center correction front and rear, Hardrace has you covered there. Roll bars can transform the car but again front and rear combines ... i have the Eibach adjustable roll bars. The best mod i did was putting in bucket seats, a roll bar with 4 point harness and a momo steering wheel with a smaller diameter, that will transform your driving experience and when you're on it, remove the carbet and the unneccessary sound dampening now add a nice exhaust and you've got real racecar feeling at 9k rpm ;) A oil pressure / oil temp / water temp gauge would be a good idea too. Strut bar helps to make the front more rigid and direct but be carful your rear is set up accordingly otherwise you get oversteer very quickly. i would also suggest 17" wheels or at least wheels that are as light as possible. If your are serious about taking it to the track with semi slicks, strengthening the mounting point for the fron upper wishbones is suggested and adding a baffled oil pan ( from TODA) because the last thing you want is oil starvation at 8k rpm. Many also put in the Rigid collars, apparently they make the car more direct and stiff, i have them installed but don't really feel a difference tbh. Ah yea brake pads (Fedoro DS2500) and Steel braided brake hose is a must for serious driving. I have everything documented on my instagram @ap_nef in my stories :)

I had one of these back in 2006, cracking car but can be very snappy on the back end. Take the air box lid off for some free induction noise!
@jordangordon23505 ай бұрын
The rigidness is due to the X-frame design underneath you, designed to make up for the fact that it's a soft top. Right under the center console carpeting is just a long beam of frame. Great video!

I need to raise mine up it's far too low, pads go ferrodo racing pads and the brakes on the front there amazing, best thing to do is change all fluids all of em, keep a constant eye on oil and generally look after it parts are not cheap to maintain it, I've got bc coilovers whiteline anti rolls. Mines full cage and buckets whitline strutts cobra bucket seats it's a jdm import track spec it's annoying being track spec but it's so good I don't care and looks the nuts Knn air induction on it will eventually do skunk intake and stand alone ecu, but standard exhaust n intake sounds great n stealth if you don't wanna piss your neighbours off

There’s nothing wrong with the v105 tyres providing they’re in date and have tread. Cracking tyres when they came out and still very good today! Make sure you’re rev matching the down changes too, it’s the sort of car that won’t thank you if you don’t, especially at high revs. Oh and incase the AP police get you… they’re all AP1’s in the uk/Europe. Just Facelift and pre facelift. Only the American and Japanese facelift 2.2L versions are AP2’s :)
@lookship2 жыл бұрын
Nowhere near as much grip in damp conditions over the PS4's I'm used to. Not bad in the dry, but for an all weather tyre they're not great. I've pushed them a bit in all conditions now and they'll be getting taken off 😅 The AP police have knocked on my door and put me right haha. Cheers though 🙂

@@lookship oh that’s strange, maybe yours are past their best? As I’ve been using v105’s on my S for the past 6 years and they’ve been great, even pushing on in the soaking Scottish highlands. Also held up well on track for a UHP. I do agree the PS4’s are better, I had them on my old daily and they were mega to be fair, but I still find the v105’s almost as good! Either way they’re an old tyre now anyway so I’d always recommend a new variant whatever the make :)
@lookship2 жыл бұрын
@@adam_s2k aye I've got no record of when they were fitted to be fair. No cracking or signs of fatigue that youd normally find on an older tyre though. They'll come in handy for burnouts and drifting practice 🤣

@@lookship what size tyres are you running? I noticed you’re running what looks like 18” pro drive alloys? Guessing you’re on 225 all round then? I personally prefer a staggered setup on the s2000 as that’s what they were designed for, your pre facelift especially can be a bit twitchy, so some 245 rears like on the facelift cars certainly wouldn’t do it any harm!

Berk high flow flow cat and the uk mod on the stock exhaust is what I have and wouldn’t want it any other way. Louder but not obnoxious below VTEC and screaming N/A Ferrari-like above it. Zero drone or annoyance on the highway, definitely noticeably louder but it’s very pleasant. Add in the LHT air box mod for a bit of induction noise and you’re set.

Pulls abit in 5th because of the short gearing 👍🏻. They’re not as bad as people complain about. Personally I wasn’t that impressed with vtec in the civics I’ve driven and I like revving cars go figure 🤷♂️
