When I camped spring a year ago a few days at Oliver Lee, because of your recommendation, I went to the Lowes and it was indeed a great grocery. The deli was something else. Thanks for the tip. 😊

Dad had a 1963 Impala with a 327 V8, three speed manual, that routinely got 22 MPG between OKC and Idabel, Oklahoma on the many trips we took to the Ouchitah Mountains of Oklahoma back then.

Well, it seems like you have a lot of hitchhikers riding with you on this trip, including me, Mr. Rusty. Thanks for the ride and the beautiful panoramic views of Highway 70. I enjoyed watching the video as always. Have a safe return back home.

Beautiful ride indeed Rusty. I got lost first time I went to visit Cloudcroft from Ruidoso (im not from Ruidoso). I miss the left turn to Cloudcroft and went straight all the way down to Tularosa.😂

I did the same thing @Classic Flyer many decades ago. I didn't get car sick that time because I was driving. So many winding roads.

At the hwy 82 and hwy 54 intersection you can see the rocket test track. Sometimes you can see the rocket sled firing at super sonic speed. Pretty amazing sight.

I had a 1966 Chevrolet Belair 283 cubic inches manual 3 speed it got good gas mileage and could keep up with the traffic.

You can also go from Capitan to Carrizozo and head south on US 54 to Tularosa and Alamogordo. It's about 10 extra miles but you don't have to drive through Ruidoso.
