Thanks a lot Paul for uploading the driving test route 1-7 and explaining in detail while you're driving. It's really helpful to strengthen the mindset and I passed the test in featherstone yesterday, 3 weeks before theory expires. It was my fourth attempt but first in featherstone.

Thank you very much Paul doing these vedios to help others. These vedios are massively helped me and my test route was 7th vedio. I have passed with two minor. If anybody book test at Featherstone your test route going to be one of these 7 vedios. So I really recommend everyone to watch these vedios again and again. Paul you are doing wonderful things.

Hi Paul, thank you for these videos. It's of massive help. @15:45, do you need to use the bus lane on Sunday? What happens if you don't use it whilst it's open.

Hello Priscilla. This a GREAT question. The answer is this: if the bus lane is NOT in operation then treat the dual carriageway as having x2 lanes and stay to the left. You will fail if you do not have a good reason for being in lane 2 on a dual carriageway. I hope this helps you!! Best wishes!

hi paul, for the road outside the test centre, do u have to be going 60mph on a test?

It is a National Speed Limit there (Cat and Kittens Lane) so you need to get the car going! If turning left from the test centre it will go back to 30mph shortly so be aware of this. 🙌

@@RioDrivingSchool when turing right from the test centre, there is a sharp bend that has these black and red ballards on the side, would be okay to go at a slower speed like 30-35 there? incase there was a car coming round on the other side.

Hi At the spiral roundabout at 8:00 would it not be better to head for the left hand lane on the roundabout after the first exit?

​@@RioDrivingSchoolindeed you did turn right but you appear to follow the spiral into the second of the 2 lanes that lead into the new road. I was just wondering if after the first exit had passed you should (especially as a learner) be in the first lane to allow for faster more experienced drivers to overtake ? Otherwise that lane is just wasted tarmac and paint.

@jhangirhussain the left lane is for following the road ahead. Lane 2 (right) is what I selected, and we then spiral across the road to the left side (using the spiral paint markings on the road) in to lane 1 on the dual carriageway. Does this make sense? To stay in lane 2 longer than necessary would only be useful if 1. We were planning to leave the roundabout (2nd exit) in lane 2 (for a right turn short afterwards), or 2, we were planning to do a U-Turn. Does this make sense? Have you been there?

@RioDrivingSchool No I haven't been there but I'm planning on doing my hgv test there soon. I think you've misunderstood my question. I'm not talking about exiting the roundabout. On approach you have 3 lanes, The first 2 lanes are for first exit only. The third lane is for the second exit (right turn). On approach I would need to use 3rd lane. If you follow the gyrotary markings on the roundabout and keep the short broken white line to your left all 3 lanes of traffic entering the roundabout would be traveling parallel to each other until first exit. The 2 first exit lanes would then leave the roundabout and then I would veer right following the outer lane immediately after passing the first exit. This would leave the second lane for the BMWs and Porsches to get past me😂. You don't take the left hand lane in the roundabout but carry on with a lane available to your left until just before you reach the exit. I may be wrong in my understanding of spirals so it would be good if you could clarify. I love your videos by the way... Very informative and clear.

@jhangirhussain ah I think I understand better now. Look closely at the road markings there. Middle lane for ahead only if you trust these markings to be correct. The only lane marked for turning right is lane 3. However, if you're in a HGV this might be different due to the length of your wheelbase. I'd ask your instructor what he/she thinks about this. 👍
