What’s the Form 1 Line meaning? I didn’t see anything wrong here. Thank you.

Form 1 lane sign means that two lanes are meeting into 1. Depending on which side we are, we need to check our side mirror, indicate and shoulder check, before the lanes merge
@citydandad37532 ай бұрын
@@drivingtestaustralia in a Form 1 lane sign (zipper merge), do you must signal right if you're driving on the left side of the zipper merge? Note that the Form 1 lane road doesn't have road markings. However, I know you need to indicate if you need to merge while the lane ending has broken lines and you need to give way. Although I hear some drivers say they need to signal, but some say they don't. Not sure who to trust for the correct answer. However, some Form 1 lane signs have lanes with broken lines where the vehicle at the lane ending needs to give way.
@drivingtestaustralia2 ай бұрын
@@citydandad3753 If the broken line between two lanes disappears, the vehicle in front has priority. If the left lane ends, the car o the left lane must give way. Usually it's the left lane at a Form 1 Lane situation that needs to move slightly to the right, hence they have to indicate as well

Could you explain how to do reverse parking for the last bay. I'm scared i'll be asked that in the test. Because of the videos i've watched + my driving instructor, they always say use a technique such as a specific line method, but you can't really do that for the last bay can you
@drivingtestaustralia6 ай бұрын
They don't ask you to park in the last bay. The 3 lines method still works for parking in the last bay if you can imagine where the lines would be. But the easier method to park in the last bay is the 45 degree method. I need to make a video of that.
@starumedah69456 ай бұрын
@@drivingtestaustralia Yep I understand that the 3 lines method can be used for the last bay, but obviously not in situations where after the last bay there is a wall that blocks it, in this case you use the 45 degree thingy right? Also do you think its bad practice to park with the small bubble mirrors because ive only learnt how to do that with my driving instructor
@drivingtestaustralia6 ай бұрын
@@starumedah6945 If there is a wall next to the last bay, even the 45 degree method is not going to work, as there won't be enough room to put the car at a 45 degree angle due to the wall. That needs a totally different method ( which I don't have a name for lol). I guarantee that they won't ask you to park in such a bay that you are describing. Half of the worries that we have in life never happens, so don't stress. Using just the bubble mirrors is not acceptable. You must be predominantly looking behind when reversing. You can only get help from your mirrors. I personally love those mirrors, but don't rely on JUST mirrors.

Should he also be doing far more headchecks. Mirrors Indicate then headcheck every time he makes a turn. Not on a single turn did he do headchecks. Additionally could it be argued he is approaching intersections too aggressively and too quickly instead he should progressively slow?
@drivingtestaustralia5 ай бұрын
Not really. You don't have to do shoulder check for EVERY single turn. Only if there is a reasonable space for another vehicle next to you, when you make a turn, shoulder check is required. In regards to the speed, I would have liked him to approach a bit slower, but it wasn't too dangerous to mark him down. Also, action cameras show the speed a lot faster than the actual speed

I got my test in about a week and a half, on the 15th. I'm loving your videos and i've been watching them since the mere beginning! Do you think you will have time to explain to us the reverse parallel parking rules? Also, I noticed that Oliver wasn't doing shoulder check pretty much anywhere, I was always told that every turn, despite the small turn, to do shoulder check. Lastly, I drive a manual car, do you know where I can find videos like yours for manual car tips?
@drivingtestaustralia6 ай бұрын
Hi Nicolas, Thank you for hanging with us on this channel. 1) I have a private video on reverse parallel parking, which you can watch here: (a newer and updated video is on the way) emudrivingschool.com.au/Package/How-to-do-a-Reverse-Parallel-Parking-Step-by-Step 2) You don't need to do shoulder checks for EVERY turn. Shoulder checks are for turns where the road is too wide or there is a road shoulder or bike lane, for example, on the side. I'll make a video on that, too. 3) Maybe just have a search on KZbin, and you can find videos for manual cars. If there is nothing for Australia, there are some videos from the UK.

@@drivingtestaustraliaThank you for replying! That brought me so much more clarity, as it seems it be a misconception. Although, is it possible to get minor points for over doing should check? Also, I have two minor questions regarding speed signs that are yellow (mostly seen when exiting the highway). I've noticed that those speeds (aka exit speed) are drastically slower compared to the actual highway's speed. Should we, when doing the test reduce at such speed before we pass the yellow speed sign? Or it is just like a recommended speed? And lastly, I was also told that for every time we are sitting in a red traffic light, we shall put the handbrake always, is this true? As I see so many students not doing it but I've been reinforced by so many people otherwise. Thank you for your videos! I'm definitely putting in practice all of your tips! I hope you get more tip videos before my test haha!
@drivingtestaustralia6 ай бұрын
@@nicolascuervo9910 You're welcome. 1. You don't get marks down for over doing shoulder checks. If you do shoulder checks where you are not supposed to (provided you don't lose the control of the car and can maintain the proper road position by doing them). 2) Yellow signs are advisory sign and as you mentioned recommended signs. For the yellow signs posted on the exiting ramps, you better follow them as they are preparing you to get your speed down to usually 60. If you drive with a speed a bit over the speed mentioned on the yellow sign, you won't fail. 3) No. You don't need to pull your handbrake up behind red lights, unless it's on an incline and you want to do a hill start to avoid rolling back. Do fixed red light cameras capture people running red lights in both directions? Or only the direction that the traffic is travelling on the side that they are positioned? Eg : + the camera is placed horizontal on the right side. Do they capture car crossings vertical???
@drivingtestaustralia5 ай бұрын
Great question. There are two cases: Fixed red light cameras typically capture vehicles running red lights in the direction that the camera is facing. For example, if the camera is positioned to monitor traffic traveling in one direction, it will primarily capture violations from vehicles traveling in that direction. However, some fixed red light cameras are designed to capture violations from multiple directions. These cameras may be strategically positioned at intersections to monitor traffic from different angles, allowing them to capture violations from vehicles traveling in various directions, including those crossing intersections perpendicular to the camera's orientation.
