We're driving the new BMW M2 in the virtual world, thanks to the M Mixed Reality. This new driving experience is enabled by innovative VR/MR technologies that combine the virtual and physical world. The in-car experience in the new BMW M2 is enabled by integrated gaming elements providing a unique experience.
In this video, we're also drifting the new BMW M2 while wearing just the VR headset and of course, we are also racing the new M2 in the virtual world.

Not at all! That was my main concern because I usually get sick from VR. And I asked them beforehand. But this is a $6500 headset that takes a lot of the data from the car so it adjusts on the fly. Hence, your brain process the experience as being normal driving. Weird, but it works

Because that was b-roll footage filmed ahead of the actual drive. There was no way to do both in the little time we had. Same idea though, likely the driver in the b-roll was faster :)

So you combine the graphics of simracing but without any of its advantages, like being able to change cars and not having to pay for the car, fuel, brakes and tires. And you need a large area of unused tarmac on top

Depends what you're looking for. If you want a more real experience, this is it. If not, SIM racing is great too

@@mrmusic1880 not true at all... Samsung headsets were in partnership with oculus (oculus made the optics and software) oculus was around for years before that. Even before oculus we had VR going back to "The Sword of Damocles" in the 60s.

It helps them keep their tech divisions up to date. It may never become an actual product but it's always good for a company to know that they have the capability to do these sort of projects should they ever become economically feasible.

First and foremost, not everyone lives near a race track. Second, you can change the layout and have different experience without being obliged to have a race track. A safe 500x500 m space could provide some fun which you don't need to drive like day or more.

This is such a bad idea. People will die if this hits the public roads. Have you not seen how people drive in GTA? Why not just drive in VR without a real car?
