There will never be another car like it. Amazed this car even exists in the US market at all. Trading my Cayman for one. Amazing these are the same price used as an Elise now. I feel the sentiment about what and what isnt a sports car. Sports cars are defined by what they sacrifice in pursuit of performance, not the performance itself.

I could say so much about this car and what truth it tells about the automotive community for the present and the future. But it's just sad how this car was written off by the media before it even had a chance. And how people constantly beg for this sort of car to be built...and never buy one when it is.

I have a EU spec (150kg less then the American version you drove), tuned and technical customized 4C for 3,5 years now. It's the best car of the last 20 years for sure. It's so engaging, so bloody quick (got 298hp at the wheels at the moment, at 890kg's), so much grip and all the noises and hardness are adding to the experience. Last weekend I to here for a 3 houre straight drive thru the hills, and I just smiled 3 hours long. This car is just so good. I've done a little over 35 MPG on a partial highway/partial small town road trip, and I tend to get close to 30 MPG around town, despite pretty heavy traffic. I always keep it in manual Race mode, which is definitely improving my mileage in town vs. automatic in Dynamic mode. The computer tends to err on the side of more power in Dynamic whereas I know when I have no chance of getting anywhere quickly and upshift.

Such an amazing car. Last summer I was trying to decide between one of these and a used V8 Vantage. Not having driven either one, I went with the vantage (6 speed MT). One day I saw a used 4C was for sale across town from me. Drove the Vantage over to the dealer and took it for a test drive. I still to this day think about how amazing the 4C was and there was no comparison between it and the Vantage. I've since sold the Vantage but my next sports car will undoubtedly be a 4C. Can't get the thing out of my head.

This drive reminded me so much of my 1990 SW23 MR2 that I had no power assisted steering, no A/C, no ABS either and very little of sound insulation. Very slow, with a UK-spec 120BHP engine, but it was damn fun. 2nd and 3rd gear for B roads... Just amazing. The road feel, the SMELLS and the fear induced by randomly going too quick into a corner and fearing for the snap oversteer monster which never came cause the car was just that good. I think the 4C will be one of those in 20 years, one of the last true internal combustion sports cars.

I love my 2015 4C Launch Edition; I bought it to have a more track-focused car than my 997 911S and it delivers! It is terrible for doing car things, so don’t expect to use it for a daily driver. The trunk will hold 3-4 grocery bags max and the road noise, poor visibility and manic steering get old on a road trip. Take it on the track or backroads though, and you’ll be in love every time. It scores really high in the “attention getting” and “nice to stare at in the garage” categories, too.

I agree with the point about modern cars slowly becoming more dull and uninteresting. They all seem to be chasing more and more power and the age of small, light sports cars with equally small (but capable) engines are slowly dying out, which is sad cos arguably driving these kinds of sports cars is a lot more enjoyable. In an era of manufacturers trying to move away from massive gas guzzling engines in their cars it's a bit ironic that these sports cars are the ones dying out. I'd take a fun 4 cylinder over a 800 horsepower V8 for sure

If people bought Alfas the way they say how fun and good they are, it would be a good think. I am in the process of buying the same car. It will be my third Alfa Romeo.

I need this in my life. Ugh. I was fortunate enough to see one at the Frankfurt auto show in 2013, and I've had a photo print of a red 4C I took then on my wall since. Lol. I adore these, though. Just wish it had a bit more sonorous engine, but... I'd drive it. :)

I appreciate the thoughtfulness of your reviews and I agree about the current M3/M4. They are a corporate snoozefest. Which little high end sports car would you say offers the most fun, without being too punishing as a daily?
