It's not that different from a normal lap, you just turn a bit less the wheel and your ears bleed from 15 minutes of rev limiter

It always amazes me how much detail and effort the designers put into the graphics going in the opposite direction. It always seems like you can see more when you drive a track in a game in reverse than you do when going in the same direction.

Our lobby in Gran Turismo Sport does this with the 24h circuit and it you need to almost work backwards and remember how all the corners link together.

My fondest memory of the Nordy Boi is the "endurance race" me and a friend of mine came up with and subsequently took part in one night. 10 laps of the Nordschleife, in stock Volvo 240 estates. Highly recommended 11/10 virtual racing experience.

This throws me back to Project Gotham Racing 4 where there were career mode events on Nordschliefe in reverse. I know many racing gamers don't like reverse tracks but this was bangers & mash every time

I was too young to learn this type of track in GT4 but I remember the Mercedes academy thing in GT5 broke up the track into sections and that’s how I learned it. Awesome track.

I am not sure how it is for the nordschleife but some tracks have some very differing times if you switch the direction in which you drive i think that could be the case for the nordschleife maybe. Not too sure

I could get a better sense of the elevation changes the wrong way round and the run towards the carousel (the one that you don't hate) came a lot quicker after KZbin than I expected. Also the rebel tree comes right out onto the track, almost, to greet you. I like it this way. I drove it the correct way round way back in the grand prix legends days but I could never fully learn it because the computer I had at the time was 2nd hand and not a gaming computer so it'd keep crashing after a few minutes of playing.

The tech of the PS2 and how it handled the whole Ring was fairly different than anything on consoles. From what I remember, they couldn’t load the whole track at once because it was too big, so they had to have the track stream from CD to the PS2 RAM as the track moved along.

I haven't played proper race games since Gran Turismo 5 . I personally find the latest games ''too'' technical for casual racers like myself. Anyways I remember enjoying going around Monaco with the '02 Celica rally car. I had the 4x4 setup to have 80% on the rear and using the handbrake to drift thru Massinet, Casino, Mirabeau H, Hairpin, Mirabeau B and Portier

Was at the 'ring last year with a company called Scuderia S7. The split the track up into sections. We'd do the section in the correct direction. Hit the end of the section and then drive back to the start... And repeat..... It felt like a completely different track

Used to race the nordschliefe reversed in Project Gotham Racing 4. A load of my mates and I would do it sometimes in the snow with the Cadillac Sixteen. It was such a massive tank. Don't think you could call it a car.

That would be so cool to see races in real life in the other direction. Tracks could keep their contracts, tv cameras are already there, pitlane, everything. Just race the track in both directions. Would be new to fans, drivers etc. Obviously it doesn't work on every track, Eau Rouge downhill could be a little scary ^^ but on many tracks they could do it.
