Porsche Invited me down to Atlanta to test out their latest creation! A joint track experience where they connect the South and West handling courses for one giant circuit. To properly enjoy this they provided a pair of incredible GT3's. One "regular" and one with the Manthey Racing kit + Wheels.
Huge thanks to Porsche and the instructors. They make it feel like you're a happy kid at camp with the coolest counselors sitting right next to you.

It's on my short-term list. I'd drive anything they give me, but I'd strongly prefer anything that revs out like this! GT4 or GT3 would make me happy.

Been to PECLA three times on track, Sim room three times. On track drive base Cayman, Carrera S and Cayman GTS. Such a good time. Do they have the kick pad at PECATL?

I rode along with a Porsche instructor going up the hill in a Cayenne at Rennsport, and even though he was driving, he talked like this and explained everything well. They hire the best!

What an incredible experience! Porsche really is the best manufacturer ever! I love how they're literally bringing track experiences and racing to the public like this which also perfectly aligns with their DNA as an incredible racing team. BMW has an M Power school like this too! We need to see you there @Tedward!

Awesome experience! I did PECLA last fall in a C2S, and the low traction “drifting” course is pretty challenging when trying to link the corners. You made it look easy! The PECs (LA or ATL) are an amazing deal. I definitely recommend everyone try it! The instructors are all awesome, and they encourage you to push the cars hard.

Bucket list item for sure! I haven't been yet, but someday (soon, hopefully)!. In every video - from you or theTopher - all the coaches seem like absolute legends. I'd have too much trouble deciding which car to drive, so I'll have to drive them all! That said, actually kinda excited for the Macan Turbo EV; Kyle Conner from OutOfSpec took a ride in a prototype and they were drifting that little SUV like crazy... Another epic video, thanks Ted!

A lot of folks fly to the experience centers. Atlanta is an easy one since ATL is a major Delta hub. If you have a long layover you could do this since it's right next to the airport.

The west circuit looks super fun at PEATL! Should definitely check out atlanta motorsports park if you have a chance. Also has very interesting elevation changes and high speed corners.

Low speed compression, high speed compression, low speed rebound, and high speed rebound. The “speed” refers to how quickly the damper piston is moving during the compression or rebound event. High-speed events include driving over a pothole or a kerb on a track. Low-speed events include body roll during cornering, or driving over smooth road undulations.

The GT3 MR is kinda what a modern version of the 997 RS would be like, especially if you start with a manual GT3. The new RS is so technologically complicated its almost in a different class to previous RS cars.

Interesting about the rear-end feeling more settled on the non MR car. There is a cost to a stiff set-up car, while it may have more support and give a crisper feel, they also tend to be edgier and the suspension also tends to have tiny secondary vertical motions as opposed to a softer set-up car that can deal with a vertical upset as a one and done. I notice this on my MCS 2-way equipped 718 GT4. If I set it up too stiff, it just can't deal with the bumps properly, although it feels really good in the corners and is more direct. That is where fine tuning comes into play. You want the car just tight enough to be able to feel good with vertical upsets, but still offer good lateral responses. There is a very small window where both are close to being in harmony. Different tires (with different sidewall stiffness & tire pressures) also play into the tuning equation as well.

It's also possible that those rears were more worn than the standard GT3. I didn't take a look but they may have been closer to end of life on the MR

@@TedwardDrives Possibly. Worn tires are usually more stable laterally, but offer less grip. Newer tires have better grip, but have more lateral squirm from tread squirm

Hey, incredible video, can I ask how the gear change works for like the Manthey ? I don't see you using the magnetic shifters behind the wheel and you have both of your hands on the wheel so I'm also not seeing you change gears with your right hand. Is this a special setup of the Manthey racing kit that lets you build up RPM until 9000 before changing gears all the while being in automatic ?

PDK is automatic so if you let it shift for you it’s pretty clever

@@TedwardDrives OK so like I thought this is their setup for the automatic huh. I'm guessing putting it on sport+ makes it shift to next gear at 9k and downshift at 5k. My 911 doesn't have shifting that agressive on automatic, that's why I drive it with the magnetic shifters. Thanks for the reply.

They're incredible! It's natural feeling but since there's so much weight over the rear you need to be aggressive to break traction. With a little more time I think I'd be a lot more comfortable

As someone that’s never been on a track or had a track day, I’m beginning to realize there are lots of things to not do that would upset the car and possibly lose control of the car and cause a wreck. It kind of surprises me that you can just go to a track day with zero experience and be let loose with other drivers. Is this how it’s done or is there some training involved before they let you with other drivers?

People don’t want to die so they won’t attack a corner if they don’t know how to. It’s fairly self regulating in that way. But instructors are there to coach people and you just follow what they say. They learn your skill level very quickly and adapt to your needs

The two of these guys were just the best. So helpful. When you get a grumpy instructor it's really hard to push a car. You start to get scared and it all falls apart. Porsche instructors are like camp counselors helping you overcome obstacles to get better and push yourself. Highly recommend.

@@TedwardDrivesI did my instructor certification through PCA. Best place to go to get certified. Same type of instructors. If you don't communicate well you don't pass. They only took 8 out of 15 of us which I think was awesome. Been instructing for 18 years now since then and you get lots of free track time plus the benefit of watching people improve on track.
