As a Scania man, it always hurts to watch when the handbrake is released and let it bang away freely. Don't do it, man, if you don't want the valve inside the dashboard to stay intact and not start leaking. 99% of handbrake valve leaks are caused by the handle being allowed to freely bang off. In orthodoxy, you carefully brake with your hand and catch it when you release the handle. Having driven for Scania for 23 years, I have learned it myself.
