Driving through France from London to Corsica (inc Corsica Ferries) Timelapse

Here is a video made using our dash cam of the drive from London to Corsica in a Ford Fiesta.
The trip was completed over three days with an overnight stop in Dijon, then Toulon before catching the Corsica Ferries Mega Express boat the final day.
The trip took us along the A26, A4, A31, A5, A6, A7, A8, A52 and A50. Passing near Reims, Troyes, Dijon, Lyon, Valance, Orange, Avignon. We then took the boat from Toulon to Ile Rousse before driving onto Galéria in Corsica.
Driving time was just over 12 hours for 739 Miles, 1192 km and the average speed was 60.5 Mph over the entire recorded trip.
We used two drivers and stopped when it took our fancy to swap places or for a break/snack.
We stopped off exit 16 on the A26 to get fuel and supplies from a supermarket just off the motorway.
We also used Télépéage, a toll payment system that bills directly to a bank card so no need to get out or stop at every toll booth.
Thankfully there were no problems along the way, the traffic around Lyon and the A7 was fluid, this is often a problem area with lots of congestion. For the return trip we chose to go through Sisteron and Grenoble to avoid this area.
On motorways the video is usually at x16 and on smaller roads and through towns at x8. All music was obtained through Musopen and is credited at the end of the video.

Absolutely epic video my friend. Came across it as I am planning on driving down to Corsica from NW England. Any tips? I reckon I'll take 3 days/2 nights as I'm doing all the driving. I LOVE driving, LOVE France and LOVE LOVE LOVE driving in France!!

Kevin Wrenn Thanks a lot, it is a great drive and I love driving on the French motorways as well. I've done the drive as the only driver twice now. Tend to do it over two days as to not lose too much time "travelling". Dijon is a good half way spot but normally we push through to Mâcon now and the second day avoid Central Lyon and go up through Grenoble and some mountain roads avoiding the A7 (very busy usually). But this is because we take the boat from Nice now. I would strongly recommend getting a toll badge, great time and trouble saver. If you do want to make a nice longer trip out of it definitely push as much as you can the first day and take your time around Provence and the Alpes. A stop in Reims for Champagne doesn't go amiss either! Lol.

Very nice video, but I have a question: Considering you travelled for so long and so far, would you reckon it is still better to do all this with your own car (the trip, the toll, the hotels, fuel, time, ferry) rather than just taking the plane and renting a car on Corsica itself?

+Orvieta Thank you. We.ve actually done this trip three times now all be it in a more comfortable car the latest time. As for whether it's better than the plane and renting a car It depends on how long you would stay; as once you have your own car over there it saves the rental costs. We also bring our dog with us and going by car is the only way to comfortably do that from the UK. Seeing so many different places is nice as well. I'm trying to finish off the return video where we divert through the Alpes and see some great scenery!
