Tbh, if it wasn't for the cars I wouldn't have guessed this was 83. Looks just like I remembered it in the 90s

@@sandradee1579 the Charleston was my fathers local while we lived in new farm loch. He only took me there once that I can remember, but I drank in it a few times with mates at the time. I have heard new farm isn’t as nice any more?

@@sandradee1579 I lived just off South Dean Road and went to the ‘new’ James Hamilton academy up til ‘81. I had to walk back home at lunchtime to make my ill mother her lunch. You got around 45 minutes and it just wasn’t enough time to get home, make lunch and get back, so I decided to go through St. Joseph’s school every day thinking no one would know I didn’t go there,( it was mightily dodgy going through a catholic school going to the Jimmy). Every day I would be 5 minutes late getting back to school and every day I would get the belt for it. Like I say my mother was ill, so it was worth the belt. My mother died last October.

Video started at MacPhail Drive where I used to hang around in 1983. I would have been 18 then. Interesting to see the old haunts.

What was the big concrete building at the corner of Low Glencairn St?. And Titchfield St seemed to have more buildings on either side.

Hi Alan, if memory serves me correctly, you lived in the new houses at bottom of Holmes Road? If so, I used to deliver the Sunday newspapers to you. This would roughly 1988 onwards.

Yeah a lot of changes there; pity we didn't have you doing this in the 60's the younger kids of today would have seen how beautiful Kilmarnock was; but your doing a great job; keep up the good work;; a comment on the College; pity he din't know it was just across from the Dick Institute then before it moved .

Not really a comment but a question. Can anyone remember the name of the shop on High Glencairn St. that sold printed T-shirts, badges, heavy metal things, studs for jackets, etc. and also, I think, halloween stuff and suchlike. Early to mid 80s? Thanks.

Hmm even by 83 they had already knocked down most of all the old historic buildings to give us a shitty shopping mall and fuckin multi story carpark; EAC still crap till this day.

Yeah, it’s shit. From a teenager who lives in Killie, me and my parents found a video explaining all the old streets like Duke Street, Waterloo Street, Regent Street etc. Can’t believe they knocked down all those old and beautiful historic buildings to make a shithole! I’m pissed off i never got to see them!
