I passed on the 3rd attempt with 4 minors. As Krista said, chill, I was stressing out for the previous 2 and nowadays I rev match, heal to toe, and can do clutchless shifts all day. I've been diagnosed with dyspraxia for a while now, and feel quite confident when I drive and control vehicles in general, but then my handwriting is a mess I cannot do things like wrap a present neatly and I have dropped things unexpectedly. I find it strange and relieving that there are people that have the same issues as me. Keep the videos going! Thanks.

For me the biggest help with driving was actually realistic video games involving driving. Not so much that it taught me 'road sense' but that it taught me how to handle a car properly, so that when I came to learn how to drive for real, the only thing I had to concentrate on was the 'road sense' aspect of it because I already had a really firm grasp on how to control the actual car. This is important because many people with dyspraxia have difficulty multitasking so if, like me, you try to learn how to control the car as best you can, it becomes second nature to you so you can put most of your brain power into concentrating on the road instead of worrying about gears etc.

MandaloreTheMad i think you are right, car videogames helped me a lot. I have still problem figuring out the distance of the car to other cars when parking

Two excellent pieces of advice you gave were to look well ahead and to regularly check the mirrors. Driving is easier if you always know what's around you in all directions. Knowing what's behind you is especially important when moving to the left or right.

It's only after 38 years of driving- I really get the need for mirrors to help me gauge reversing & parking...as no idea of space and the timing...It is like an Extra essential now...having scraped all 4 sides of car & bashed the mirror & the rear...was when forgot to use my mirrors properly. Not diagnosed ADHD yet but can get speed wrong and rush into parking = scraped and scratches. Luckily no accidents but driving exhausts me massively.

Music is a massive part for me as well, I feel like I can concentrate so so so much more when I am listening to music because it does something to my brain that just makes it work! No matter what task i am doing I always work better with a song!

It took me 4 times before I got my license. I was however under alot of of stress at that time. What I do remember about taking lessons that the instructor shouldn't say to much else I could lose my nerves.

How did you get around the left and right situation and is there any tip on that while driving. Sometimes I'm forget my left and rights when I'm learning to drive at the moment. Cont really look at my hands as there on the wheel. In the uk my method is right is the drivers side and left is passenger side is there another way to train your brain with a different method.? X

If that method works use it. I only have to think about it if people are giving me live directions. I have a tattoo of lugia on me wrist, so it's "lugia left" but I will actively point and get them to confirm I'm right.

Or don’t bother with manual. I couldn’t do it at all. It’s too much to think about trying to use a clutch, change gear, watch the road, making sure the car doesn’t stall, checking your speed… it’s far too much to think about and execute. Music whilst driving is insanely distracting unless I am just going in a straight line for several miles. I wasted 2.5 years in a manual and then switched to automatic and within 4 months I was put up for my test and I failed it 4 times in an automatic. And passed the 5th time. I wouldn’t ever be able to pass in a manual ever no matter how much practice I had. Please be safe and stick with automatic only.
