Many thanks for posting this video on KZbin. I found the content so useful, encouraging and supportive. The energy diary was the most useful and I will definitely look at incorporating this into my weekly planning. As a dyspraxic/dyslexic, with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome from Long Covid, it was so refreshing to hear it’s ok not to get everything done each day and not to feel guilty either, in today’s fast paced world. ❤🙏

Thank you so much for this webinar. I also have dyspraxia, ADHD, and other learning disabilities, and I feel very understood. I loved the presentation and the tips, and I will put them into practice. In fact, I’m already implementing them by using text-to-speech technology. Muchas gracias! ;)

Fellow OT here with dyspraxia! This was so helpful! I think as OT's we sometimes forget to apply our skills to ourselves 😊. Thanks for the webinar and you've gained a new insta follower!

Thank you for your lovely feedback & follow! I agree, we do often forget to apply our skills to ourselves, I’m certainly guilty of it from time to time! But we absolutely deserve & need support and care too 💛😊

Thanks for the webinar. Good to know im only one tests stares out the window to give myself a break/rest. Love the idea of energy accounting. This and the spoon theory are two I've found recently to try and explain my tiredness.

I’m so glad you enjoyed it & found it helpful! I do love staring out of the window or watching the trees sway or the local cats run past🌳😊

In a probably relatable, moment - I just wrote a whole message and then accidentally clicked on one of the video links to the right and lost my whole comment!! I will try to repeat the gist of it: I really think this is an important area to think about - in the last year or so, I have been trying to consider energy management more and setting boundaries, but it is really good to see some support for / information about this and some tools / process to follow - so thanks for speaking out about this and I echo the lady who posted earlier - I did not know this was a job role! One thing I was thinking: often it is not only the task that depletes energy for me, it is also the planning for the task, the deciding and the ambiguity: considering all the different aspect, do I have enough, time, money, energy - what do I need to have with me or have done before hand etc.. this is the real 'Brain Heavy' work. Also, if I say plan a 5 minute break and do a relaxing activity, what if the relaxing activity takes longer than anticipated and goes over the 5 minutes, then I've messed up my plan and it's harder to get back to the task in hand. Similarly, I often think that I will be able to do the task in a reasonable amount of time, but for me it takes much longer, so it depletes more energy and impacts the rest of the day because the 5 minutes' rest doesn't cut it. These are just things I was thinking about when considering how to put into practice the energy accounting method you outlined. Yes I do overthink! I have considered that sometimes I need to think less and just try and see... but often I find that if I don't plan, it goes wrong anyway! Can't win sometimes!!

Hi, I was diagnosed with ataxic cerebral palsy as an infant, but this was unconfirmed, (I think, because I had a normal MRI scan and learnt to walk and move in a way that just made me look a bit clumsy and have a wider gait, rather than any more severe motor issues or tremors or anything like that). I understand that you can't be diagnosed with both dyspraxia and cerebral palsy, because dyspraxia is only diagnosed in the absence of any other explanation for the motor disorder symptoms, such as cerebral palsy - even though cerebral palsy is a descriptive label and doesn't really explain anything, only describe. It confuses me, because I relate to many of the cognitive symptoms associated with dyspraxia, but that aren't really discussed when it comes to cerebral palsy, and yet I wouldn't be considered for a dyspraxia (or DCD) assessment, because of my previous diagnosis of cerebral palsy. I guess I am trying to ask, how did you get diagnosed with both conditions? Thanks for sharing, :)

Hi, I am watching the webinar and really relating and finding it fascinating and I know the information will be really helpful for me... I just wonder whether it's possible to get a transcript or captions, because I can't quite understand what Alexandra says at 05.07 mins: "use energy as a limited resource, similar to how .... " and then I can't understand the last words of this sentence. It sounds like "Menieres" but I don't know whether she's comparing limited energy in Dyspraxia (or DCD) to the vestibular condition Menieres? Is that correct? I have hearing loss, so sometimes I miss things, especially if people are speaking quickly, but I've slowed down the speed and I still can't work it out. Thank you for your help.

I have just listened to the next bit and now I understand she is saying 'how money is' not 'how Menieres' ! In any case, it might be helpful to have a transcript for future webinars (or maybe the rest of this one!) Thanks

Hi! Alex the presenter here. I’m so sorry about this. I have a transcript: do pop me an email or message on socials and I’ll get the transcript over to you (same goes for anyone else who might like it) 😊

Captions will be available once the video has finished processing. This can sometimes take a little time but should hopefully be synced by tomorrow.
