One more thing. I just wanted to say that I've taken lessons and none was worth a nickel, absolutely no help at all, and some from really decent teacher. Then I started scouring the internet for coaching videos, more dead ends. At some point I stumbled on yours and I have to say I'd never heard anyone teach like you do, it's fantastic and actually makes lasting progress. One thing that went off like a lightbulb was how you stress applying pressure down on the handle through strike with a good grip. That tip alone makes a world of difference! When my handle comes up I'm amazing at the incredible banana ball slices I can produce. I mean they actually make a 90 degree turn 🤣. But following your guidance produces incredible shots. Thanks again!

I remember specifically searching for a broom drill and coming across your channel. Then looking at your subscribers I was thinking it won't be long before you have many more....next thing I look up to the TV as I hear your voice and your doing a piece on sky sports! Seen you on there numerous times now, must be nerve racking but you come across so professional and full of passion. Love it mate, keep on that trajectory you're on!

The low handle high club head drill just forced me to execute a leap of faith similar to Indiana Jones in the final stage of his search for the Grail while I was in the swing lab on my roof. I’m envisioning you waiting for me and other golfers saying “you chose wisely” after we take the leap. Watching the video back - early extension gone, club face releases square to the arc. Scared the dickens out of me to try, but my golly. Cheers to you, Stu.

Stu, this is not just good coaching it’s excellent coaching. The driver has always been my nemesis and I’m that guy who tries to lean backwards to hit more up, and it produces a fade or slice, which makes me aim further left to compensate for that ball flight. I’ll definitely try your drill and see if it improves my ball flight. I’m probably a natural fader of the ball and don’t mind fading it, slightly. I just hate the slices. If this drill rids me of the dreaded slice and creates a constant baby fade, I’ll be a very happy golfer. Cheers.

That's good coaching. I am definitely a hit up with the handle forward, high lead shoulder, tilting the torso back swinger with driver. This is THE area I struggle with. It just feels like a slap it when I try your way and yet I know it is the right way. You make me want to go and practice more, thanks. 👏

Needed this Stu, thanks. since my grip change i have struggled with a low hook driver and now i think the low handle is what I'm missing, seems to make more sense now and inventive to keep the left hand cupped if i keep it low. with a high handle as i played before i would could not see how to square the face with the new grip and had no incentive to cup left hand.

Steve, the biggest hurdle for golfers when they apply my grip, which is why many cant fathom out how to hit it straight. Enjoy my friend.

Honestly think this is the greatest explanation of this you've done -and pertinent to the ongoing uncertainties in my game! 😉 Off to drill this now!! I know feels can be subjective, but this makes me wonder how you think of, and feel, squaring the face (if at all), i.e., the 1st technique might feel like the lead hand throws a frisbee through strike, supported by the trail side. On the technique you advocate for, do you have a sensation of anything such as trail hand slapping, both hands opposing eachother, simply trusting the overall movement WILL square the face, or similar? Or is it best to broom drill and develop one's own feel?
@GoodGolfCoaching

Stuart: with the handle low/clubhead high for driver and sand/bouncy greenside shots, are to still keep the handle lower on regular stock iron shots but not have the clubhead be so relatively high? Just wanted to see if you might offer a distinction between the feeling we may want for the driver vs. a stock iron shot?
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching Ай бұрын
Feeling is exactly the same; your meeting the ball earlier in the arc to obtain the angle of attack. Hope that helps!

Hi Stewart, another stellar video! Question: The action in this drill seems a lot like a sand shot to me, would you say that's accurate? I just want to have a good mental picture of what to try to do. Thanks!

Love it. Thanks for the new drill. When you setup with the driver where do you line up the face to the ball - assuming you want to hit a slight draw? Center of the face or slightly towards the toe? Cheers.

Hey Michael - with it only being 6-12 mm giving the striking a difference in flight, I wouldn’t alter where to setup at address imho. Hope that helps.

I can assure everyone that what Stuart is saying is dead accurate. With the driver you MUST release the clubhead, and to get the most speed from the head it must overtake the handle at the handle's slowest speed. If the handle is moving forward at impact you end up with less clubhead speed and an open clubface. I discovered this myself a short while ago and my driving has vastly improved. With a 9 degree Qi10 I am hitting the ball higher and longer than I ever have done and the vast majority of my drives are out of the middle of the face and have either a baby draw or they go dead straight. Even the bad ones mostly stay in the fairway (probably due to the forgiving nature of the Qi10). There are many coaches on KZbin, and quite a few are very good, but if you want the real technical explanations backed up with good footage from different angles then Stuart is your man. I've said this before and I'll say it again: That he has so few subscribers in comparison to some of the poorer quality channels is a shame, almost bordering on criminal. Thanks, Stuart, you have vastly improved many aspects of my game. 👍😁
