I'm finding huge differences using the theraband. It's changed my mindset that the golf swing is more pushing the club away from you then pulling it back towards you. That may not be exactly right but if I maintain that feeling I'm getting better contact. Thank you as always

Part 5 of backswing maintaining spine angle with arm lift has really has really improved club face control but I feel my backswing hip rotation is very limited and transition happens very quickly before I feel weight move to forward hip. At the young age of 71 do I need to worry about lack of flexibility? Results are great on irons but consistently with driver has suffered. Still blessed with good club head speed but transition is so quick I’m losing control of my best club the driver. Any thoughts?

Speed in transition can be a reflection of your grip, if you’re seeing the odd fade or slice. Sounds like the golf is in a good place!

Hi Stu Is this what’s called a butterfly grip? So meaning a strong left grip plus a weak right grip. (Simplified version) Just ran into it video recently, I play a strong grip also I’m a big guy so my hand is almost a jumbo size grip. I accidentally tried your grip as I felt like with the right hand I can smash it down the ground better instead having a palm facing up right hand would lead to casting the club.
@stevenli2290
@stevenli2290 Күн бұрын
and to add that, so a strong left plus a weak right wil neutral the face to square at impact. Done couple practice swing at home and the club came back looking square instead of normal strong grip (wide open)

As always Stu, great content. I'm following along with the backswing series after the setup series... a superb resource. Once you have finished all of the series (i.e. grip, setup, backswing, downswing, impact, follow through) might you consider releasing all of the series together as a (paid!) download? This would be an incredible reference source when the gremlins start corrupting your swing!

Nope not at all… this is for people believing, hitting a draw comes from a shut stance. The wedges are to help angle of attack and rotation. Hope that clarifies.

@booger65man

I would suggest that you are still addressing a symptom. The root cause lies in the player not trusting the golf swing. They get to the top of the back swing and they know they have forearm rotation. Their brain says oh no, I’ve got to get that club face square and instead of allowing the club to come down and square up at impact by releasing it, their right elbow kicks up in an attempt to square the club immediately at the start of the downswing. Until you can overpower the subconscious urge to do this, trying to solve this with position, driven swing thoughts, will not be effective.
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching 3 күн бұрын
Couldnt disagree with you more my friend, but I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and beliefs! Best wishes Stu
@booger65man
@booger65man 3 күн бұрын
@@GoodGolfCoaching I went ahead and subscribed to your channel because I like the way to think differently about the golf swing. I think most teachers are addressing symptoms and not the root cause. That said, what did I say that you disagree with? I think most problems in the golf swing happen because of the subconscious driving movements in an effort to hit the ball and make it go a certain direction. You can tell someone to move to a certain position or move in a certain manner but until they are able to convince the subconcious to trust that movement, they will fight it and never be successful. I've been playing golf for 45 years and see it over and over in myself and others.
@GoodGolfCoaching
@GoodGolfCoaching 3 күн бұрын
Perhaps we are saying the same thing. The subconscious is combative of physical inaccuracies. The subconscious will be very quickly overridden once the change is correct. Hope that clarifies.
@booger65man
@booger65man 3 күн бұрын
@@GoodGolfCoaching Sounds like it. I have always believed that a swing change that results in immediate positive improvement in ball striking, is easy to adopt and thus override the subconscious. The entire we must take two steps back to take one step forward when making a swing change is ineffective. Humans are too greedy for that to ever work.
