I really want to do the glacier tour one day. I've lived in Alberta my whole life and have yet to go on it - the one year we make solid plans to go, disaster struck and we were unable to do so. Perhaps next summer I'll have the chance. :)

And it harms the wildlife too - it's not just about personal safety. Person comes too close to the bear, the bear charges to protect its young, the bear gets the punishment. People can be really selfish sometimes. :(

What a beautiful drive! I drove through Jasper and Banff when I was 12, on our way to BC. We saw a mother black bear and 3 cubs, and all the tourists were out of their cars getting real close like idiots. We parked a ways a way to observe her. Definitely one of the most beautiful drives! Another beautiful drive is up the California coastline along the ocean. Once you get out of LA there are lots of beautiful seascapes and hills and vineyards as you make your way toward San Francisco. We’ve driven it twice and I always want to do it again.

We saw so many people biking down the Icefields Parkway! I'm not in the best physical shape, I'm afraid that would probably lead to a heart attack on my part. But it would definitely be a great way to see all the beauty, and you could probably stop at every single roadside attraction! :)

It is actually really affordable to visit the parks. A few years ago when Canada turned 150 it was free to everyone and anyone to come visit. It was a really wonderful gesture.

So so so many! You drive past 20 for every one you finally decide to stop at. There's a lot of hiking trails leading away from the highway too. It would take days to drive this stretch of road if you decided to stop at every lookout and trail. ;)

I read something like that too. I can't see them ever allowing any company to dig up a national park, but our government is literally insane so who knows?
