We travel a new way for us on our fifth visit this year to see the trains at The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway, Woody Bay hoping to discover the location of Lynton Station which was situated a long climb from the village itself.

The A39 is my favourite road in all the world. Mile after mile of gorgeous scenery and little or no traffic. Heaven.

We didn't meet any other vehicle on the toll road.

Love that route. Cycled up the Toll Road last month and down into Porlock Weir via a Bridleway, very rocky and steep but managed to get more than half way then got my customary puncture!...I always carry a spare tube now!....Thank you once again Mike and Val for your lovely Videos which continue to keep me entertained, Informed and inspired!

Yes, that was indeed the old Lynton Station that you passed, when you weren't sure whether it was or not! I went to the L&B in October, via the A39 Porlock Hill, but you had a much nicer day for it than I did...I enjoyed a drop of Devon rain later in the afternoon! Lyn wasn't running on the L&B that day (her first day off for a long time apparently), so we had Isaac instead.

This is the main road between Minehead and Barnstaple with good views to Wales, (Lynmouth is directly opposite Swansea). I remember observing a rear engined Fiat 850 leaving Lynmouth up the Countisbury Hill in 1991 when these little Italian rustbuckets were few and far between, wondering if would make it to the summit.

These days it is rare to find any modern car having problems there. It was a very different story forty years or more back.

Another lovely day out 😎 I can't help but wonder how Val would react, when driving, if you were replaced by a sat-nav 😉
@ADMIRALSCORNER3 жыл бұрын
We do have a sat nav but Val always has an argument with that!

A very nice drive up the toll road from Porlock Mike and Val - but maybe it needs one or two clear road signs on those sharp turns in the road on the way up ! It must be quite a sight in the country to see those peasants taking flight when Val puts her foot on the accelerator !
