@@bmack918 soo true, it was sticker priced which was ridiculous to begin with I think. My buddy dealer inventory Mgr orders for my local toyota dealership. He found 4 runner that i wanted on the boat from Japan . We eliminated all the extra pricy options bigger rims (hate those) privacy roll cover for storage ect. And the dealer tried to tack on 1600.00 extra mandatory fabric interior cleaner, 🙄 😒 but he made it show I put my request in before it started. So out the door I paid $40,500 for my nautical blue sr5 4×4 with tan interior. Love it, but shew.... my HD duramax kills this thing in mpg. I’m 5’7” and own a 20 SR5 double cab long bed 4x4. The seating position is very different than my fleet owned Silverado work truck, that feels like siting in a kitchen table chair in comparison, way more upright. I like the cabin setup and I have two young kids in the back (it’s nice that they’re always within reach) but I can see how anyone larger than me or people who want to haul adults in the back would not like this cabin. The cab is the exact same size as the 2005. I had a 2012 TRD Off Road. I am 6'3 and I could never get comfortable and the seating position is brutal. I like Toyota and would get one again if they ever actually change the size of the cab and went with a turbo. I live in Wyoming and drive at elevation a lot and since going to the Ranger turbo it is night and day better than NA engine at elevation. Mostly I am just happy mid size options are now available and I think it will push Toyota to really improve the Tacoma.

Let’s be honest, nobody buys this to be the fastest (0-60), the most comfortable (body-on frame), the highest tech (JBL?), or for any other spec-sheet dick-measuring. But im not an off roader of any kind, and I have not been put in a position to where I wish I had one in the 6 years Ive owned mine. Truthfully, unless you're a full time contractor where you would need an 8 foot bed, youre not going to find a better pick up. Its easy to drive, its small enough to squeeze through tighter spaces, its easy to park too. It even has the ability to get up and go when you put your foot down. And the fuel mileage isnt a nightmare either. Its a well balanced practical truck when you dont buy a big package version like this. Good review and that was awesome I want one in that color. The good thing about crawl control and MTS like you said mimics a front locker is that it won’t give you steering issues like a front locker would. You can’t turn as good with a front locker on, also no human can do what crawl control does by applying the brakes individually to each wheel and sending power. The LX600 is becoming a grocery getter now, it’s not off-road oriented even though it has crawl control, low ground clearance and poor approach and departure angles makes it soccer mom car now not an off-roader. The best off-road vehicles from Toyota are the Tacoma and 4Runner, I just wish they kept making the FJ cruiser and that would be a 3rd option.
@elkofcanada50032 жыл бұрын
It's worth mentioning the LX600 has a special trim with 18" wheels with more tire sidewall and some other changes. I think it's to make up for the lack of the LC in the US market now.

@@elkofcanada5003 yea I saw that one, most important change for off-road is the smaller wheels that’s it. Ryan, Around 22:22 you show us the LX 600 and explain its limitations under comparable conditions. Maybe the same wild and crazy guys on the Toyota Board who just graciously bestowed the GR Corolla upon us will do the same with the GR Land Cruiser. We can always hope 🤩

@@moloono1 There are limitless KZbin videos from around the world of various Land Cruiser models as they are equipped for different countries. Watching this after the new Tacoma has been announced. That new TRD pro is wild. A very well equipped Baja truck that is no doubt fun to drive, as well as reliable being a Toyota. Have a 50k budget (even though that new one looks like it’s gonna start at around 60k before markups) I think I like this truck better, it’s the last of a dying breed. I have a Limited, that is all I could find in 2016. I still love it! Does anyone think it would be worth getting an aftermarket locker and lift since you cannot find a TRD PRO? No idea the cost.

Another amazing review. I don’t know why Toyota seems to keep inventory low compared to other manufacturers. I think this is done on purpose to keep prices high.
@whocaresjustdoit2 жыл бұрын
It's because of their production issues caused by chip shortage and supply chain disruptions. I don't think they were as well prepared for this crisis as they thought. Prices for vehicles are high right now because automakers have to pass their increased costs to make a car to consumers.

@@whocaresjustdoit yet my dealer has had one of its best sales year so far according to them.
@whocaresjustdoit2 жыл бұрын
@@Offshore1977 Yeah. I agree. I work in the automotive industry and the dealers are making big profits right now since they don't have to give incentives and discounts to MSRP like before (also, markup helps). Selling a lot of cars is very different than selling profitable cars. Dealers don't buy cars from automakers at the same price they sell to us.

They should make this stunning color available in the rest of their lineup. Lime green Supra anyone?

I am so conflicted on trucks. I'm looking to buy a midsize truck anywhere from 2016 - 2022, price isn't really an issue for me. My problem is that I'm 6'6" and I want a truck that is well balanced with both on the highway and off road. I've been looking at Tacoma's due to their reliability but for highway driving I'm unsure. I'm also interested in the Jeep Gladiators (long term reliability is questionable) and Nissan Frontier. I work remote so no daily commutes. The truck would be used for typical home improvement uses, going to camp sites off the beaten path to remote / dispersed camping and lake sites hauling a kayak and fishing gear. But for the long road trips I need some comfort due to the travel from Kentucky to say New Mexico or Montana on adventures. Is there other Tacoma packages that is better suited for this over the TRD Pro? I don't plan to ever rock crawl/climb. Rather its forest roads, from easy to moderate. Nothing extreme since I do a lot of this solo.

I want this vehicle, but I do zero off roading. Is that crazy? Is it a great daily driver?

Sweet truck. Love those control arms. But that is over $60K in Canada..getting pretty steep for a little truck. Doesn't matter anyway because at 6'1" and 235lbs I find the interior too small

Excellent review How’s the quality of the front camera? It’s terrible on the 2022 4Runner trd pro. It might have to do more with the screen resolution that the camera itself though. Have you ever compared it between the Tacoma and 4Runner?
@user-tb5ns7hc5i2 жыл бұрын
I own it and can tell you while it’s an awesome capable dependable truck, it has some disadvantages… The cameras are useless. Very low resolution. Auto trans poor unless offroad. Get a manual. Seating position awful. Steering wheel has plastic mixed with hard pleather - yuck. Open the glove compartment, everything falls out, and the fuel economy is laughably bad. Do I still love this truck? Yup. But Toyota has sure made some stupid decisions on it, and for this price and how many decades it’s been around, these flaws should not exist.
@jbnissa6262 жыл бұрын
@@user-tb5ns7hc5i that's exactly how I feel with my 4runner. Great truck overall, but a lot of disappointing aspects for a brand new vehicle in 2022 with some of the tech from the late 90s. With that said, I can't and would not trade it in for anything else based on my needs

@@jbnissa626 how hard would it be for Toyota to just give pre/releases of the trucks to experienced fans of them like us for a few months , so we could give our feedback to sort out all these very stupid design issues they are overlooking to have them corrected before final release. These trucks are so close to perfect but flawed in inexcusable ways that just seem lazy to me from a design perspective that could be very easily fixed if they actually cared about the end customer usage of these vehicles. Frustrating. One of the biggest annoyances on the new Tacoma is actually the clock. Seems minor, but the time often disappears from many of the entertainment system screens, so you can’t just glance over to check the time without navigating through the menus to get back to the clock. Dumb. Put an old led flashing clock back in from the 80s or 90s! If it works, don’t mess with it. Also, I don’t need 4 menu nav button presses just to get back to the radio! My old am radio from 1975 could do that with one click and I didn’t even have to look at it. Again, just stupid design choices on the new vehicles. I swear the designers now must all have adhd.
