For $42,000 to be honest, I’d start considering a lower trim SR5 4-Runner 4X4 I think with the exception of MPG with the 4Runner you get towing, interior space, proper solid rear axle, proper low range transfer case, better approach and departure angles, overall a much more well suited vehicle for the job. You can theoretically get that for just under $40,000. Oh and the 4Runner is made in Japan! But good video, very informative.

They are made to last a shorter time than their own better quality with in their brand. They NEVER have the traction like their higher quality tires with in their own brands. This is a review that makes the rav look worse than it is once it hit snow. Better tires and that rav will get through. I know front wheel drive cars that can get through that snow with good tires. Other wise, great review on the hills and rocks. Well done. I've had cars co workers complained their same car theu have as me is terrible in the winter. I'd never have issues, having the same car. @zefolantar4 жыл бұрын
Brodi Wheeler That’s likely true. But the original question just asked which AWD system, in general (it didn’t say for “off-roading”), is better. Toyota’s system is not much different than Honda’s. They’re both front wheel drive systems first, and the rear wheels engage when slippage is detected through the sensors. Subaru’s system powers all four wheels to give you far superior traction in all weather road conditions. If I was going off-roading or rock climbing....I’d buy a JEEP, not a Subaru. And for the record....I’ve owned a Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4 and SUBARU Forester. The Forester is by far the best in wet, sloppy, muddy, or winter conditions. No contest there.

Surprised about 18" wheels. Smaller wheels will help with lower air pressure for traction and protect the rim. I know the Rav4 is not a hard core rock crawler but 16" or 17" works great for all kinds of terrain including highway.

Saw your favorable results review of the Subaru Foresterr Sport with X-Mode in deep snow and hill climb. Is seemed better than this high end Rav 4. Is it?

Irytuje mnie tylko to, że w tych współczesnych crossoverach są jakieś blokady momentu, które jak auto ma za ciężko, nie pozwolą na poślizg kół. Silnik wyje i nic się nie dzieje...

I think you just need experience driving on snow. Im from Canada and we drive that kind of road condition every year. I do have to say that the flirtation between you two were somewhat more entertaining to watch.

For 5 years I had a 2012 Rav4 v6 AWD and the traction control system got me stuck a couple of times in similar scenarios - in other words when I forgot to deactivate it. When on, it was really acting like the "snow mode" shown in this video, which is NOT the behavior you want in deep snow. On the contrary, you want momentum and every wheel to spin equally and most quickly. I am confident "Mud/Dirt" mode would have done way better in that last stretch. Keep the snow mode for the road and city driving when there is some accumulation.

Pretty cool except for the price...42k for a 4 banger with some special shocks? No thanks, 32 k sure no problem but that is stupid expensive.

That's the TRD Touch. You may watch your spoilered Camry get smoked by an Accord ... but you will always have those TRD badges to reflect your shame...

Yeah, you could just get a 4runner or Tacoma for that price

You can also just buy an XLE and throw some Falken Wildpeaks on it. Basically the same car suspension being the biggest difference.
