I am older man with diagnosed BPH. At night and during morning hours I can urinate like a young man. But, in the afternoon things slow down. Why? Prostate doesn't expand and shrink. If it is enlarged, it will stay enlarged.

What you can do to stop the problem is 2 options. 1. Get your testicles removed. 2. Have BPH surgery Testicle removal will make the prostate shrink back to the size it was when you were a kid. There are types of surgeries that work. 1. HOLEP 2. UROLIFT 3. TURP Turp is a procedure where they use a resectoscope and they insert it through the penis and scrape away the prostate. It's bloody but patients submit to it because an enlarged prostate can cause renal failure and completely obstruct urine flow. Urolift inserts pins that hold the prostate open and allow urine to flow normal again. HOLEP removes the entire prostate by a laser.

Hi there So I have most symptoms you mentioned so went to my GP yesterday, who examined my Prostate and told me it very enlarged but feels smooth and soft I had bloodworm done in July and all was normal including my PSA level I also had urine checked and all normal, I'm 42 in May and suffer with health anxiety so I'm really worried my Gp has prescribed me medication and referred me for a Scan, but because he knows I worry he has also referred me to the Urology team as he said they will put my mind at ease but now I'm worrying that he's just saying that and that he did feel something sinister and has referred me because of that??? He said he does not think I have anything to worry about but I'm really worried.

42 is a bit young to join the enlarged prostate sufferers club... Meds helped me. They all come with negative side effects. But the idea of not being able to pee scares the heck out of me. I was there one time years ago. Totally blocked...had to have wife drive me to ER.

I woke up last night with an irritation in my penis that resembled a burning sensation. Thought I needed to pee and did. Yet the burning sensation/irritation is still isolated to that one place. It's more evident when sitting but appears to disappear completely when I'm moving around. What are your thoughts?
