I am a psychology student and I got a final exam tomorrow in neuropsychology and I took a decision based on my intuition to open Facebook and luckily one of my friends shared a link of this video 😅 and got the chance to watch it. What's interesting in your idea is going into merging reasoning and intuition together in making a decision, rather than comparing which is better. Also sequencing by first starting reasoning based on facts then taking a break to allow for our intuition to take part in the process is an interesting approach. Thank you.

I've definitely made decisions where I've shut down my intuition and just went on the "facts". What I later found out is that I was rushed and desperate and didn't know the questions to ask to get the whole set of facts.

Being rushed into making decisions makes making good decisions so hard! I think sometimes it's even used as a strategy, like as a sales strategy or a way of trying to quickly get one's way. If someone isn't willing to give me time to think about it, I immediately get doubtful of their motives.

Billionaire Ray Dalio talks about the components of good decision making in his book Principles. One aspect that he brings up (belongs on the reasoning side of things) is taking into consideration the secondary impacts of a particular decision before making it. As an example, if you buy a car, it may cost you $X. Besides surrendering $X, what other impacts are there to consider? Surrender $X may mean that you won't have enough money to go on a trip or not enough money for emergencies. The more we take the "domino effect" of a particular decision into consideration, the higher the quality of our decisions.
