@@karagermano3079 @kara kara, I don’t have a cycle anymore, and did OMAD for 3 months, everyday. It broke through the massive insulin resistance I had no idea I had and which kept the weight on me. I was so resistant, I thought I had some kind of genetic setpoint that I was beholden to. But Dr Pelz and others taught me it was hormonal - my insulin levels were constantly high. Now they are relatively and consistently low due to fasting and keto/carnivore, and the weight is peeling off.

@@SD-hs4bpabsolutely can ask anything...well almost 😂 I lost two hundred pounds over the course of two years ending in 2017. Slowly I had crept back up to 296 by 2022. I new that I needed to regain control before I was back at 400 pounds. In February 2023 I was also diagnosed with diabetes. That was my moment of rededication. Since those days in March of 2022 I have returned to my roots of fasting, low glycemic index foods and low carb choices. I'm a remake. The best of all the previous models of me🎉 I hope these words find you ready to recommit to your wellness.

I'm currently IF (18:6) combined with low carb (50g carbs a day).. and I've thought about doing 24 hour fasting on weekends.. but according to my health condition I have to go dairy free.. so on keto, it's been so hard to eat foods that's under my budget (coming from a currently poor family).. although I've failed keto like 4 times in the past, I'll try my best not to fail this time. :((

I've been doing OMAD consistently for about 4 months with IF and last month I did my first 72-hour water fast. I was a size 16 and now a size 6. I started getting consistent with my weight loss and overall health improvement November 2022. I will be 57 this year and set a goal to get healthy and lose the weight before my birthday. This video is timely because I have experienced hair loss and realized that it coud be from OMAD. My weight loss has not slowed down. I think I will try the 3-3-1 plan moving forward. I workout 6 days a week as well. Great video and information!

After OHS I went back to 2 meals a day to get more protein in so that I could heal. After about 3 months of cardiac recovery I went back to OMAD. I am 5’11”, 62 years old now. Male. I have been fasting for 22-24 hours a day….everyday…for almost a year come July 2023. I also eat all of the healthy foods to make sure I get all of my nutritional needs, but I also eat whatever I want after I eat my healthy meal if I’m still hungry. It’s my way of satisfying my “one meal” lifestyle and it is absolutely the only way that this can be a sustainable lifestyle diet for me for the long haul or I would never stick to anything else. I was on keto for 2+ years before this and didn’t lose as much weight and I was also kind of miserable not having carbs because I was exercising so much and I needed those carbs but didn’t realize it. I am thankful for keto for helping me get back to a healthy weight but fasting jd my happy place! 🎉

I tried fasting in April with an app but every time I clicked "START" I immediately got the urge to eat something, almost like in rebellion of the app. That happened in April and May. Then, in late May, I found your channel and started listening. I reinstalled the fasting app and started over. On Day One I did 16-8 (successfully) but then on Days 2 thru 6 I did 20-4 (successfully). On Day 7, because I had been listening to your channel and the 20 hour long fasts went well, I did a 36 hour long fast. Drank only water, coffee, and tea and then twice I did water with electrolytes. So that was my first week of fasting, and the bonus was a 7 lb weight loss in that first week. I plan to do the same drill this week and beyond and I'll keep listening to and appreciating your wonderful advice. Thank you so much.

I am a woman, I've lost hair, I've been on a weight loss plateau for like 3 months now no matter what I do or stop doing and yes, I've been doing OMAD for 4 months. I think I will start doing that 4-2-1 variation. I thought OMAD was not a bad thing but it CAN be, it IS in my case at least. Thank you!

Thank you for the abundant information you are sharing! Very, very helpful! I am a 50 year old OMAD. I did this for more than three years. I did it because I find that eating a second meal will increase bloating to painful levels. I hoped that with time my gut will heal and I can go back to eating 2 meals a day. Not really. When I tested and I eat a second meal it was always the same: the bloating is so disturbing, it's not worth eating at all. I find this lifestyle easy now (things are quiet inside) but as dr. Pelz said it does not work long term. I am slowly gaining weight (even if I did not do OMAD to lose weight, I was at least hoping that my weight will be stable. So I have to implement one of the options presented above and make some changes to see how my body reacts.

Mindy introduced me to the idea of switching it up. I'm down 100# from last year. OMAD & prolonged fasting up to 96 hrs & several 48 hrs. I hit a baseline I took a break for a month. PSMF carnivore pushing 100g a day in protein put on 10# of lean mass & filled up some weak muscles. I started Creatine, Taurine + L-Carnitine before my work. I'm back to an ADF to OMAD to cut body fat & switch back to more plant based targeting below 15% BMI @ 53 from 45% last year. I found breaking plateaus demanded longer fasts. Each lower baseline has been a 72 hr fast away. I found 96 hrs didn't yield as much as just doing ADF for a longer time focusing on protein.

I am living proof it is healthy. I am 60 and lost just over 60 pounds since Jan 4th this year. My health is greatly improved in everyday and energy is endless and I am at a healthy BMI and have not been this weight since I was 18! Keto+IF/OMAD is amazing. I have now stopped OMAD except for a couple days a week and switch up my meal times and meals skipped according to how I feel. 3 meals a day about half the time somedays skid breakfast, other days skip supper etc. Keep you body guessing and always eat the right foods, natural and not processed.

What you said exactly happened to me. Whilst I lost considerable weight and I am very happy with it, I reached a weight loss plateau. I couldn't understand why. I enjoyed doing OMAD and got a sense of satisfaction of being able to eat just one meal a day. However I got frustrated because it wasn't getting rid of some stubborn weight. My goal is 70 kg and now at 74 kg. Not far away and not too discouraged. Now I know what to do to reach my goal. Thanks so much!

Take Dr. Mindy's words to heart!!!! I am 60/ Female - OMAD for last 4 years after reaching my goal weight 2 years ago... 8 mo. ago my hair started falling out, my skin got very dry & itchy. I started having a runny nose constantly (histamines) and often lost energy in the afternoons. I believe I had a nutrition defecit in spite of supplements. I really liked OMAD but wish I had not pushed it so far. To have what felt like a great healthy lifestyle turn into a health concern was alarming for me. I believe I had to reassess my relationship with food and nutrition - another rabbit hole I didn't want to have to go down.

Every time I fast, I experience a headache or lightheadedness or hunger (etc) right around 20 hours. I put electrolyte powder in my water, drink it, and it goes away within 20-30 minutes. Then everything is easy after that. I seriously feel I can fast forever. I hope you try it. Just get to the other side to see how easy it is after that 👍 For example, I would eat dinner at 7pm on Monday. Close to dinner time on Tuesday, I was suffering. I would push through with zero calorie electrolytes (LMNT or similar), and realize I only needed to go to sleep and wake up for it to count as a full 36 hours! So I went to sleep and accomplished my first 36. It was great. Basically, we get credit for sleeping time 😊

I do a 20/4 everyday I've done this for years. Within the 4hr window I have a greens drink, 2 protein shakes with oatmeal, and 1 full healthy meal. I suppose you can count the shakes as a meal. I am healthy as healthy can be, no hair loss, no health issues. I dont do this for weight loss as I am at a perfect weight. I do it to stay healthy. I think it's important for those doing any type of fasting to ensure you are getting all the vitamins and minerals everyday. Stay away from sugar, and keep in mind that all carbs turn to glucose, and fruit is loaded with sugar. Education is key here...learn how to get your dailey nutrition (vitamins & Minerals) without loading yourself up with sugar. Get enough fibre within your diet. Eat well stay away from processed foods.

100% 👍I avoid fruit except for tomatoes and a handful of blueberries in salad about twice a week. But the biggest trigger for me as re sugar is bread. I call bread "the last addiction" because it's the one everyone has, and the one nobody talks about. I can eat 1 item with pastry, or 1 piece of cake, and it doesn't trigger me, but 1 slice of bread, and that's it, I can eat bread for the rest of the day. And I don't even LIKE bread, its purely the addiction.

One meal a day is just super easy. Particularly if you choose the right time of the day to eat. Personally my favorite is in the evening. But I guess it's a personal thing. I managed my weight and reached a comfortable level. It stalled at some point but I think I just needed more patience and some variation. OMAD does it for me. And especially when you add Keto to it. It's not for everyone depending on factors such has diabetes or other health reasons. But if you're perfectly healthy, no problem. I've been doing it for 6 years now. Your body will take about 2 months to figure out your energy distribution throughout the day. I'll wake up and do weight lifting for an hour. Go to work. During lunch I'll go to the emergency staircase and climb stairs or shadowbox for 30 mins. I'll only eat dinner which is around 8pm. With this routine, I can eat whatever I want for dinner and it's usually a really large meal for example 1 large plate of pasta, 6 chicken wings, salad, 1 slice of cake, 2 scoops of ice cream.

In my own experience, I can do OMAD for two or three days in a row, but after that I usually get so hungry that I revert to 2MAD. I'm trying to fix my chronic high blood pressure so that is my primary fasting motivation. I also like the ketone buzz that I feel after I push through the initial hunger.

Made sure I had all micronutrients through the week. But I ended up having many other things alongwith it. 1. Drastic Hairfall leading to alopecia 2. Acute deficiency in Vit D, Vit B and Iron 3. Lack of energy 4. Lost muscle mass 5. Skin became loose leading to looking worse 6. Face started sagging 7. I became Gluten Intolerant 8. Now I have PCOD and Thyroid OMAD was the worst decision of my life. Now I am under proper surveillance of doctors and taking medications. I had to cancel my marriage for starting treatment. I hope to revive soon.

OMAD. Easy to lose weight once you work your way up to OMAD. It is super easy when you only have to eat once a day. It is very addictive at least for me, to stay at one meal a day. The down sides over long term you lose muscle and you get very tired and run down. I am a woman and this is the results that I had with OMAD over about doing this for 1 year. No matter what I ate or how much on OMAD. There is no way for me to sustain OMAD. I continued to stay with OMAD for other health issues I had that seemed to calm down without eating multiple times a day. Thanks Mindy, keep up the great work.

Thank you Dr Mindy, what has been key for me is that since finding your channel and your resources (two weeks ago) is that I understand what I am doing, why I am doing it and when I should be doing it. This has made the fasting process a lot easier for me and has meant that I have been able to tweak the process according to my goals; weight loss, healing, working with my cycle, spiritual etc. I have started to lose weight in this time, and I have also started to see the results of healing some of the issues I have been struggling with for many years (brain fog, digestive issues etc) and more recently my chaotic perimenopause symptoms, though I am still in the early stages of this process. I developed a routine where I lift weights once a week, eat like crazy for the next couple days of recovery to pack on the muscle, then do OMAD for the rest of the week to burn of the belly fat. When I retired from the military in the spring of 2009 at the age of 47, I weighed 190 from the last 8 years of my career being bad eating habits, no sleep, and high stress. After retirement I automatically went back to my natural eating habit of OMAD/eating only when I was hungry and not eating past 7pm, I also started getting regular sleep (no more shift work, although I am still a night owl), I dropped from 190 to 160/165. I am disabled, so any kind of working out anymore cannot be done. I maintained that weight, and continued OMAD for 9 years. Menopause hit me hard right on my 50th birthday, but the OMAD was still working fine and my weight was constantly at 160/165. Suddenly the fall of 2018 at the age of 56, out of nowhere, I gained 5 lbs in August, another 5 lbs in September, and another 5 lbs in October. Within 3 months I weighed 180 without doing anything differently from the previous 9 years. It was like the body snatchers or something. OMAD no longer worked, so panicked. I tried eating several small meals, weight still crept on. I tried Kachava meal replacement, the weight still crept on. I tried a version of OMAD, but hate feeling hungry when I get up, so I snacked a little an hour before bed. Weight crept on. I was also starting to get heartburn several times a day, and eating an antacid each time to put the fire out. For the first time in my life, my body was out of control, and everything I tried was only making it worse, and I was running out of ideas. A week ago, I weighed 195. I was devastated. To give you an idea, just before my 30th birthday, I weight 201 the day before I had my son who weighed 9 lbs and was 24" long. I looked into pills, I looked into programs that cost thousands of dollars (that I can't afford), and I about lost hope. I came across an ad on FB about intermittent fasting, and looked into that since that's pretty much what I did for years, while people harped on me "you know, that's not good for you".. I saw that I was right when I was listening to my body. But that was before the decade of dealing with menopause, and having the weight slowly packing on since 2018 when I became post-menopausal. One of the groups I had joined had mentioned you, Dr Mindy. I decided to watch your videos, and just bought your two latest books. While I'm gathering this information over the last 6 days, I decided after a couple of days of watching your information to try an 18:6 daily fast while I get the information about what might work for me, being 61 and post-menopausal. I decided to weigh myself a couple of days ago, fully expecting to have gained yet more weight, and actually found that after being on the 18:6 for 4 days, I had lost 5 lbs. I also notice the heartburn frequency has diminished a lot. I also drink only Dyln Alkaline water. I think I'll try the 5-1-1 and see how that goes. I just want to thank you for reminding me that I wasn't wrong with listening to my body in how I used to eat... and that now it's not my imagination that I still can, but I have to adjust because of being post-menopausal. There is hope.

I don’t do this now, but in the past I did Keto and lost 60 lbs in 3 months by having 1-2 meals a day. I would eat when I was hungry. I also would have 1-2 bulletproof coffees a day (butter, coconut oil, and heavy whipping cream) and that helped me extend my not eating window. Unfortunately, I did have a few side effects to what I was doing, the first was hair loss and found out a few years later that I have Hashimoto’s, the second was that I would go back and forth from having diarrhea to having constipation if I had too much kale, and the third was I kept getting redness in one of my eyes. I gained most of the weight back and would like to find a healthier way to lose weight I.e. Dr. Mindy’s or a similar way. I’m 235 lbs and 5’9” right now.

Love this! I’m the same, depending on a woman’s cycle also depends on how we feel and respond to certain things too. Sometimes I do OMAD, sometimes fast for longer than 24 hours, sometimes go vegan/keto, and sometimes have a day where I eat a lot of food. It all works and keeps me sane!😊😊

Me, too! Three days I'm OMAD and the other four, two or even three meals. I'm 45 lbs down in 9 months and my A1c went from11.5 to 5.3. I've been steady at size 0-2 for two months: no more real weight liss, loss, I'm still shrinking a bit.

I've been doing OMAD and keto since July 24th, 2023. As of today, I'm down 108 pounds. My routine is OMAD during the week and 2 meals on the weekend days. I also walk/run 6-8 miles a day. I've consistently lost weight. My goal is 92 more pounds. I haven't felt this good in many years!

I started my OMAD yesterday when I forgot to bring my lunch with me, so I went until dinner. I am excited to see all the great results in the comments. Thank you Dr. Mindy for all this great information for us women!

And you survived ! Many people (my husband included) are horrified at the idea of missing a meal. I've never eaten breakfast or lunch for most of my adult life (breakfast longer still, I always refused it as a child...lunch was more tricky due to school lunches)

@@amandadavies.. I wasn't horrified at missing breakfast or lunch, but had never done this before a few months ago. I'm kind of excited to do this for a few more days!

@@Jagski1964 I was because the smell of food first thing in a morning knocked me sick and still does, and then the smell of school lunches cooking. Too early for me. I find that fasting, especially longer than usual, makes me feel more alert and certainly not tired like I've seen it mentioned, ie not eating makes you tired amd grumpy or whatever. Opposite for me. Just wish I didn't have to cook for other people while I'm not eating myself though and there's no chance of my husband joining a fast...more chance of winning the lottery.

2019 weighed in at 270+ pounds started OMAD and working out whilst fasted and lost 60 pounds. Gained back the weight by around 2022 (255+) went back to what works and OMAD really is 🔑. Now 2024 at 210-215 pounds i feel stuck and somehow plateaued in my weight-loss. I am looking for a new way of optimizing my fasts and i shall try for longer and shorter fasts during the week. Cheers!

I've on OMAD for 9 months! Im down 87 lbs. I love it. But will go to intermittent fasting when I lose another 10 lbs. I do OMAD with Keto and walking. But for the last month, I do Fruit, Nuts and Sardines Friday-Sunday. It's like a weekly purge.

Dr. Mindy, can you do a video on how the variation of fasting style (4-2-1 or 3-3-1) fit into women hormones?
