If Caraxes could kill Vhagar, then Drogon would be no problem for him. Drogon benefits from being a big fish in a small pond. If he was around during the dance, he would probably be on the level of a mid sized dragon like Seasmoke or Sunfyre.

@@SD-tu1tn That was my point. The toughest kid in the juvenile center is a big fish in a small pond. You move him up to the prison hall with the big boys and see how long he last. This video was the one who compared them, I’m just stating the facts. Caraxes is older, decades of battle experience from 2 warrior princes, and fought other dragons larger than himself and Drogon. However, if we are gonna give Drogon the benefit of judging him based on how big he will potentially grow. Then we have to do the same for Caraxes, who died a little over 100 years old. Who also spent his entire life locked in the dragon pit.

@@thegreatpage5912 drogon at season 8 is bigger than caraxes at episode 2 and seasmoke at episode 3 If they are competing with the last shown size then caraxes probably wins but if let's say they were the same age then drogon would probably be the biggest dragon ever i mean he is just 7 years old and is far bigger than dragons that are thrice his age! So yeah drogon and caraxes if they are same age would be like balerion vs silverwing (or whatever that dragon balerion killed)

Caraxes himself is not finished growing, and let’s also take into account he has spent most of his life locked up in the Dragonpit, which is reported to stunt a dragons growth. While Drogon has been allowed to roam free. Do not be fooled by that whole "Second coming of Balerion" stuff. That is about Drogon's appearance (black and red) he is not the literal reincarnation of Balerion.

I was really sad after reading the battle above the gods eye. Caraxes survived having a wing torn off, being disembowled, and hitting water from hundreds of feet in the air. He still managed to pull himself onto shore only to die shortly after in front of Harrenhal. It was gut wrenching and I was filled with emotions. In my imagination he's still even more ferocious than what they portray in the new HotD show. I fucking love Caraxes its a shame he didn't survive.

Experience sure but do is Drogon in short year's remember Drogon is always present when Danny conquered Essos and built her own Targaryen Empire over there by conquering all the Free Cities of the West and the North, to the Slavers Bay in the South and the East heck even she even made the Dothraki Sea as her own along with the entire Dothraki Horde and Drogon was there to see that experience is enough to outshine Carexes. U said Drogon has no personality u must have hit ur head hard because what I see is Drogon has his own personality it has been shown many times in all of the season. He is arrogant, Prideful, Alpha Male, Fierce, Brave, Loyal, Cold, and Tyrant but when she is with her mother of course he would act like a puppy who wouldn't do that even though we humans respect our parents that much and can be said the same thing as Drogon. Also in a mere short years, Drogon grew fast because his a pure magical creature born from stone and blood magic also made its user/mother immune to any fire, and probably came from an extinct ancient breed of dragon from Ashai of the Shadow Land's where the farmers and herders Valyrian get their Dragons in the first place give Drogon enough time of 15 year's his size would outsize Vhagar and another 15 years would outgrow Belerion. Since Drogon is a magical dragon his life expectancy would be greater than the pure dragon breed of the Valyrian by 200 years to greater. Drogon reacted when Daenerys died and his flame melted the throne and the stone wall behind the throne with ease, destroyed ships on a single breathe crumbled walls and gates on a single pass because his flame is greatly enhanced magic to the point it would rival Belerion flame but half the size of Belerion is a feat on its own. Valyrian and Targaryen dragon's on the other hand live a short lifespan of 200 years and grow normally hence a true dragon breed and their user not immune to fire and in a 1vs1 battle, Carexes would never stand a chance as it would melt the hide and scales of Carexes and burn his rider to ashes plain and simple. If Drogon would ever had a magical sensitive rider no doubt it would change the color of hid flam like what Viserion flame gas become blue not because it was hotter because it the final battle in S8 his flame goes toe to toe with Rhaegal and Drogon but not overpowering them so Viserion blue dragon flame was due to the Night's King Blue Magic as so enhancing and changing its magical properties to fit its user.

Caraxes would win tbh if comparing to season 8 of GOT. However, it wouldn't be an easy fight. Drogon still has experience, he started his experience when in season 3 when Daenerys said Dracarys for the first time. In season 5, we saw him fight in the fighting pits as still as moderately small dragon compared to normal. Season 7, we saw him in battle in first time and we can't the other battles like in season 8 against a zombie dragon and burning of the Eurons ships ( even tho made no sense as Rhagar died straight away). However Drogon is still alive, we will deffo see him again in the Jon snow series and probably see get bigger than ever, and probably be able to beat this dragon. However Drogon does have distinct personality, we see him acc grow up over each season from a baby near seasons 2 and 3 to a untamed teenager in seasons 4 and 5. Seaosn 6 to 8 he is absolute momma's boy, he's very protective and through out the season the dominant alpha wild type like Khal Drogo tbh. However, other 2 dragons have no fucking personality at all ahahaha, apart from being the smaller and beta to Drogon lmaoo ahahaha. I'm glad House D is acc giving each dragon a personality but I guess it may be harder as each dragon rider has dragon with personality similar to them and Daenerys has 3 dragons whereas everyone else only had 1 dragon.

This is why Drogon is not a match for Caraxes. SPOILER * * * * * * * "In the A Song of Ice and Fire novels, Caraxes was one of the older and larger dragons during the Dance of the Dragons. His scales were colored red, leading to him being called "the Blood Wyrm". Daemon Targaryen rode Caraxes in his frequent campaigns in the Stepstones. As a result Caraxes was not only one of the larger dragons during the Dance, but possibly the most battle-hardened and experienced in war. Indeed, only Vhagar had ever been ridden in major wars before, due to the eighty years of peace the realm had enjoyed since King Maegor the Cruel died - and Vhagar, while formidable, had not been used in combat in the years leading up to the Dance, the way that Caraxes was. Opposing armies were known to often simply flee when Caraxes approached. When Rhaenyra captured King's Landing in a surprise attack, Daemon rode Caraxes in the assault while Rhaenyra rode Syrax. Later in the war, Aegon II's younger brother Aemond Targaryen resorted to a one-man war riding Vhagar, burning out much of the Riverlands. Daemon hunted him for a long time on Caraxes, aided by the dragonrider Nettles on Sheepstealer, but eventually he returned alone to Harrenhal (which Vhagar had burned out earlier in the war) waiting as a challenge for Aemond to arrive. Caraxes was formidable but Vhagar was twice his size, nearly as large as Balerion had been during the War of Conquest. Facing him alone was the only way to draw Vhagar out, however, as Aemond had avoided ambushes by multiple other dragons. Aemond arrived, exchanged his final challenges to Daemon, then both took to the air on their dragons. The resulting Battle Above the Gods Eye was one of the most epic dragon-versus-dragon fights of the entire civil war, as two of the greatest living dragons fought in the air. Their shrieks shattered every remaining window in the castle and could be heard for miles around. Their fire-breath filled the sky so that fishermen in the lake thought that the whole sky was aflame. In the end, Caraxes dove down from the sun on Aemond's blind side (due to his missing eye). Caraxes slammed into Vhagar and they both continued to fight in free fall. Vhagar tore out Caraxes's belly, and used her massive jaws to rip one of his wing-arms completely off - but Caraxes sank his teeth into Vhagar's throat and maintained a death grip. As the two dragons grappled, Daemon rose from his saddle and made a stunning mid-air leap from his dragon to Aemond on Vhagar's back. Wielding the Valyrian steel sword Dark Sister (which had once been carried by Vhagar's previous rider, Visenya Targaryen, Daemon thrust his blade through Aemond's empty eye socket - the force of his impact as he landed driving the sword through the back of Aemond's head. Both dragons plummeted into Gods Eye below. Nothing could have survived the fall and nothing did: Caraxes had ripped out Vhagar's throat and she bore the brunt of the impact, killing her. Daemon's corpse was never found, but Aemond's was found years later with Dark Sister still thrust through it. Caraxes, somehow, was still alive after his massive injures and the fall, but not for long. Missing a wing and with his intestines trailing behind him out of his open belly, he somehow found the strength to pull himself out of the lake onto the shore, where the dragon soon died before the walls of Harrenhal. The battle was a heavy blow for both Rhaenyra's and Aegon II's factions: each side lost one of their greatest champions, as well as each side's strongest dragon. The world has not seen their like again."

No, it wasn't just luck.. The Bloodworm was one of the fastest dragons to live, he was vicious. He feared nothing, his rider feared nothing.. Don't forget the dragon isn't alone & you're completely forgetting to put that into consideration here. Daemon was smarter & more experienced, which is why him & his dragon were able to beat Prince Aemon & Vhagar. Now, when we think of Drogon? Okay, he's bigger, stronger.. He also has a rider who lacks any dragon on dragon battles, Dany has only minimum experience. So in reality? She would get her & Drogon killed against the Rogue Prince & the Bloodworm.. One of the greatest knights, fighters & one of the most savage dragons ever? That W goes to The Bloodworm

Caraxes deals in speed and agility, ( he is highly skilled in battle). Speed and agility was largely the reason why Caraxes was able to kill Vhaghar, if it came down to strength or skill alone Vhaghar probably would have killed Caraxes and survived. I think Caraxes defintely would beat Drogon from ASOIAF because of experience and skill, more than strength imo, but who knows how skilled or how big Drogon becomes, especially as he is the only dragon with no known death currently who is known to still be alive after ASOIAF

I think this is an easy win for caraxes. He's larger and the long neck gives him a great advantage when attacking. However I think its important to note that drogon destroyed the iron thrown then flew away, there really is no telling how big and powerful he will be if we ever see him again.

That king neck could also be a disadvantage because it offers so a big area for drogon to be able to latch onto and easily bite off as well as ripping it open with its claws so kind of a double edged sword in that it both helps and hurts Caraxas… I also am under the impression these two would be fighting at the height of their primes when they were both the best version of themselves possible.. only way it’d be fair and no excuses could/should be made following the results lol

I got to disagree on this one. I think Caraxes destroys Drogon with the possibility it really wouldn't be all that close. Caraxes dominated during a time when there were big dragons and dragons actually fought one another. Yes Drogon was an impressive dragon but he had never faced any challenge close to Caraxes and lacked battle experience. You can't really say Drogon's size and power would win the fight when Caraxes was able to kill Vhagar and she was bigger and more powerful than Drogon by a good bit. Besides Drogon's size was pumped up a bit to move the GOT story along, he really wouldn't have been that big at that age. There is absolutely no way to know if he would have approached Balerion's size. I think the Blood Wyrm wins.

I mean caraxes was kept in Chains at the dragon pit and drogon was allowed to roam free and eat whenever he wanted which is why he grew so much faster than his siblings… also while drogon didn’t have the battle experience caraxes does he still did fight another dragon in the battle of winterfell and engaged in 7 or 8 different battles in the show so it’s not like drogon is completely inexperienced… also I mean yes caraxes did kill vhagar FIRST but vhagar also killed caraxes.. and no it wasn’t just because of the fall lol vhagar literally tore caraxes wing of and completely disemboweled caraxes with just its foots claws.. even if caraxes broke free and didn’t crash land it still would have died moments later gotta remember these dragons would be riderless as well and for it to be fair and so no one can make excuses I think both dragons would have to be at the absolute height of their primes at whichever age/size they fight the best. Assuming drogon would be around the same size as vhagar or balerion I think it would be a toss up honestly

Drogon from the final seasons and Caraxes are actually very similar in size around 112ft or 30 to 36m, Drogon is simply bulkier. If Caraxes can beat Vhagar which was close in size to Balerion, he can definitely beat a dragon his own size. Also, you’re putting too much stock on Drogon being Balerion’s reincarnation, when in reality it’s only a speculation.

You have to take in consideration if the fight would be with or without their riders. Whatever is the case, Caraxes has way more much experience than Drogon. You can't compare a child with a war machine. You add their riders and its even worse for Drogon. Daemon and Caraxes are so alike and their bond its made so strong by that. I don't think there is anyone else have such a strong bond with their dragon. Because of this they got Vhagar and because he has so much experience. Put Daenerys on Drogon to fight this two legendary warriors and there is nothing to do but just pray for Danny and Drogon.

As fan of the books, Caraxes should really win fairly easily. Even assuming Drogon reaches his season 8 size. Caraxes stalemated Vhaegar, who was basically just Drogon but several times bigger, stronger and more experienced.

During the Dance of the Dragons he was huge, formidable, fearsome, and experienced in battle. keywords: Huge, Formidable, Fearsome. From a Wiki of Ice and Fire: Drogon is the largest and fiercest living dragon in all the world, larger than his brothers Viserion and Rhaegal. Half matured, Drogon killed and ate a child near Meereen. Keywords: Largest (contextual), fiercest. This is opposed to Viserion and Rhaegal. Drogon is the largest currently, most likely 1/3rd the size of Caraxes or maybe even 1/4th. Where Drogon is compared against Viserion and Rhaegal, Caraxes is being put up against Balerion (they were alive at the same time for awhile) and Vhagar. Caraxes straight up bodies Drogon if they were to fight. Put them at the same age with no rider involved, perhaps a different story. But the Blood Wyrm killed Vhagar, sure he died from his wounds. But he survived the initial battle for a short time. That basically puts Caraxes as the second best dragon of all time behind Balerion. Drogon my boy, you got some growing up and work to do.

Honestly i doubt Drogon would ever be as deadly as Caraxes, let alone Balerion. He may grow large, as large as he wants, but his rider is not nearly as competent as the riders of Balerion, Vhagar or Caraxes, he never seen true war, not in the books anyway, let alone a war with other legendary dragons. I find it very sad ceraxes had to fight vhagar to the death. Before Aemond one eye, Laena Velaryon was Vhagar rider. When Laena wed Daemon they flew their dragons around pentos. Hate to crush the hopes and dreams of our Drogon lovers, but Caraxes would completely obliterate Drogon. Even if we are to believe that Drogon is following in Balerion's footsteps, the only dragon we'll get to see in the series that was nearly the same size as Balerion, and equally matched in ferocity, was Vhagar. If you want to know who wins that fight, you're welcome to google it! Vhagar is twice Caraxes' size. Also, Caraxes lived his life fighting other men, and other dragon riders. Drogon fights UnDead Viserion, and that's pretty much it - he's the biggest thug on campest with no one close to match him. In the books Caraxes by this time was probably 3 or 4 times as big as Drogon - and he was small by comparison to some of the largest dragons, such as Vhagar. And he was a dragon killing machine. So by experience, Caraxes always wins. Drogon is about 10y/o. Even if Drogon is smaller at the point of the burning of kingslanding than Caraxes was in the Dance of Dragons at 50y/o, we can comfortably assume that he'll be significantly larger and more powerful than Caraxes when fully grown; espesially considering that he's basically lived his life in the wild. In the books, GRRM clearly describes him as Balerion reborn. As an author, you wouldn't make that assertion without meaning it. By 10y/o he had fought an undead Viserion, mounted by the night king (considerably more challanging an opponent than a very old Vhagar), he's been shot at by scorpions and the NK and he has won several battles single handedly. No other dragon in GRRM's universe is so battle hardened at such a young age. Even with the significant age/experience advantage Ceraxes has, it'd be close, and give it only 5-10 years or so and i'd happily wager on Caraxes being a tasty morsel.

So, I’m pretty sure caraxes and S8 drogon are about the same size. If you compare the size of the riders next to the dragons it seems they’re about the same. Secondly in lore caraxes is half the size of vhagar. Who at the time is the same size the Balerion was during aegons conquest, So enormous. And considering in size comparisons drogon is half the size of balerion. That also puts them about the same size. Now as far as who’d win in a fight? I pray that we get to see the battle of the Gods Eye. To see Daemon leap from Caraxes, mid flight- hundreds of feet in the air, and land on Vhagars back while driving his fucking sword (dark sister) through Aemons only remaining eye and out the back of his head (obviously killing him instantly) is something so god damn epic I would absolutely shit myself and die happy. Then to top it off, to see Caraxes (who is MUCH smaller than Vhagar) actually get his wing ripped off by Vhagar and get disemboweled by Vhagar- only to have him muster his last remaining strength to wrap his long skinny neck around Vhagar and rip her entire fucking throat out (also killing her instantly- almost decapitating her completely before they both crash into the water) is something we could only hope for. Then as if Caraxes wasn’t bad ass enough already- he actually survived the hundreds of feet drop into the water after having his entire wing ripped off and belly disemboweled- he lives long enough to swim to the shore and drag himself out of the water before dying. While Vhagar, the biggest dragon since Balerion the Dread sank to the bottom never to be seen again. If that doesn’t win Caraxes the title of fiercest dragon to ever exist- then I don’t know what would.

Drogon is a 'child' compared to Caraxes. Daemon was taught to ride and fight on a dragon since he was young while Dany, unfortunately, have to learn everything from scratch. So the peak GoT Drogon could not even win against S1 Caraxes. However, Drogon is still special in the sense that, and especially considering the books, he grows at a rapid rate and is also a very aggressive dragon. GRRM often refers to him as Balerion born again and if that is accurate, then once he reaches his prime, he will be an unstoppable killing machine.

Maneuverability in the sky would be key. Nah they'd still loose to some of the more powerful dragons. Two examples, first rhaenys and meleys were able to fight in a 1v2 against vhagar and sunfyre and were able to badly damage sunfyre and aegon while dying in the process and second daemon and caraxes were able to kill vhagar and aemond while dying in the process. It all depends on the dragons and riders so while all 3 would be able to beat a lot of the dragons there are some that they just wouldn't be able to beat still

I think what people forget about Drogon is he was young by the end of the show. He was only 8 and was that big already. The dread was over 100 in Aegons conquest. If left uninhibited the dragons will continue to grow until death. He will eventually be the size of the dread. The other two of Danny's would have ended up more than likely around the size of Vhgar. Now in a fight with current Drogon vs Caraxes, I wouldn't be so quick to day Drogon would win, just because of Drogons age. He isn't that experienced in battle especially vs other dragons, and Danny is not the most experienced rider. She also does not have the most tactical mind.

Spoilers* Yeah, no Drogon would not win this one outright. He has the potential to win as he’s a bulky, strong and oversized for his age (call it what you will; Balerion reborn, TV wanted bigger, city-levelling sized dragons). Caraxes in the show is quite thin and serpentine, so if Drogon got his jaws on Caraxes neck or rendered his stomach, he would do serious damage. However, Caraxes is not only more battle-hardened, he has the reach advantage with his neck and speed, being more agile as he is likely not as heavy. They are not too far off each other size-wise (in the show), but Caraxes is definitely longer and has a wider wingspan in the series, so even though Drogon is big, Caraxes is actually bigger in the dimensions sense, Drogon more compact. So although it may actually be a close fight, the fact Caraxes took on and killed Vhagar tells me he would have the edge on Drogon. I bet Drogon would put up a good fight as he is a beast, but Caraxes experience and reach with his serpentine physique means if he would get his jaws around Drogon’s throat (and he would likely be quicker too), Drogon would die in the exact same way Vhagar did. Caraxes wins.

Caraxes dwarfs Targaryen ships when he flies over them in the preview for episode 4. Drogon is small even at his inflated compared to the books S8 size compared to ships. Caraxes gets to half Vhagar's size by the dance who is the same size as Balerion during Aegon's conquest and fights her to a mutual death. He actually grapples with her in midair during the fight and even after she tears him open he bites her neck and rips it up. After they fall from the Gods Eye in a river Caraxes manages to force himself from the water on the shore and drag himself to the gates of Harenhall even as his guts spill out of him. Caraxes would murder Drogon. I love our big boi but your wrong about one thing, Caraxes WAS compared to Balerion when it came to ferocity.

Drogon isnt bigger than Vhagar at all. He is like 3 times smaller. Maybe in 50 years after the end of GoT he would be the same size. But he wouldnt win that fight at all. He lacks experience which caraxes might have most after the big 3 from Aegons conquest. An Dameon being his rider makes him that more fierce.

Disagree. I think Drogon is getting WORKED in this fight. It’s easy to be the best when you’re the only one left of 3 left in your lifetime. Drogon struggled when he fought Dead Viserion when the Night King rode him.

Caraxes should be bigger than Drogon in Season 7 of GoT. Dragons don't really stop "growing" according to the books, and Caraxes is good 50 years older than Drogon - Therefore, Caraxes has to be bigger. Furthermore, Caraxes has actually more battle expierences and is simply as "F you!" as you described it in the end. So, no, Drogon wouldn't stand much of a Chance against Caraxes alone.

Drogo has little battle experience. you gotta remember that drogon is not that old literally the timespan of the books. Caraxes on the other hand, is suppose to be at least 50 years old. With a majority of his years fighting wars. Caraxes would destroy drogon, for that very reason. He is a more battle hardened and has battle experience

Caraxes would beat S7-S8 Drogon, That being said, Drogon Was growing at an insane rate. People need to remember that he was only 6 Years old at the end of GOT and he was already over 100 feet long. Had he continues growing years or decades later, he would’ve probably eclipsed Balerion in size to be honest. If that were the case, he would make short work of any of the dragons from the dance

Isn't the thing that Caraxes and the rest are all at least in their 20s and 30s. Drogon was what 8? But he's already going to be as big as Balerion, so presumably when at a comparable age, Drogon would be a much bigger threat

Remember House of the Dragon is still in begining, the Dragons haven't in thier power level in the Dance we know ! Caraxes is still a young boy, and Syrax is still tiny, while in poster she as big as Drogon !! If taking them at thier max power level we know ! Caraxes is overpowerd to Drogon !! In the show, drogon was easily 50 feet from wing tip to wing tip when spread. That is not arguable in the slightest because we saw the character on her back and we know she's at least 5 feet tall and it would take at a minimum 4 of her to cover from shoulder out to one wing. 20 feet is only twice the hight of a basketball goal from the floor to the rim. That's tiny compared to drogon in the show. We know that for a fact.

I entirely disagree with drogon being as strong or as large as caraxes, all things considered caraxes was at least 58 years old where as drogon was 7 caraxes is significantly more experienced in battle and as big as drogon was there’s no way he’s anything near caraxes in size (for those that would say he was in the dragon pit so he can’t be that large vermithor was also kept in the dragon pit and was comparable in size to vhagar) all of the accolades about drogons strength and size are almost certainly exaggerated due to the fact that literally no one in game of thrones that witnessed him was alive to see any other dragons, whereas everyone in dance of the dragons has vhagar as a size comparison for caraxes so while caraxes was never seen as large that makes sense when the figure of large is vhagar at the time plus if it’s about strength, that scales with size so caraxes is stronger overall drogon doesn’t even have a fighting chance, caraxes is stronger, larger, and more experienced there’s no world that drogon wins that fight

As much as I love Drogon, I call cap on this. I mean sure, Drogon is still bigger and stronger, and we've seen more feats from him. But Caraxes is still more experienced, and not to mention he killed Vhagar. If he was able to kill a dragon second to Balerion in terms of size and power, then Drogon should be no problem for him.
