We had a fire box like that up North and it kept the whole house toasty warm. I miss it but being an old lady, widow, I know I couldn't handle to wood anymore so when we moved down here we put in 2 gas fireplaces one downstairs in the family room and one upstairs in the 3 season room. I can remember when I stacked up 3 full cords of wood by myself, can't do that anymore ha ha I love seeing your videos and hearing the kiddos in the background

We enjoy the warmth ours provides and are thankful to have it. I’m sorry to hear you are widowed. . It sounds like you were quite the worker, that’s a lot of wood. Thank you. The kids keep us on our toes and a smile on our face. I always look forward to reading your messages Mrs. Barb.

Thanks for the video! I really like this unit since it's minimally dope looking. =) I had purchased the 1500i off eBay and it came with the piping system, wall plate, fan and all that. Used it for my first winter last year and it totally did the job for me.

Just had mine delivered last week. L&m farm supply was the cheapest I could find. 1730 delivered. Came with the liner kit. Going to tackle installing this week. Planning on wrapping the liner with rock wool and 10 gauge wire. 1200 sq foot rancher. Hoping to set the oil furnace fan to low and let that run while burning to circulate the heat. Very happy with the purchase. For the price and looks of the stove it’s hard to beat from what I see. First season burning this stove. Let me tell you, it’s nothing like your old stove! This thing will cook you out of the house if you let it. The smoke reburn makes a huge difference. I would recommend. You have to have dry wood!!! Again, actual dry wood. No guessing. Use a moisture meter. If you split a piece and it’s over 20% moisture you will have a hard time. End of story. These do not burn like the old stoves.

Think twice. The Drolet is a badly designed stove. The firebox is TOO SHALLOW and when you open it to stoke , burning embers can and will fall out plus , the pile of coals will slope upwards to the back of the firebox which means that you have to pull the pile to the front which is when the coals fall out . The catalytic are not efficient I have the 1800 escape and I have to stoke it every 3 hours. On a cold winter nite , that means YOUR NOT going to get a good nites sleep. I use mine to heat an OFF GRID scenario and I really wish I had purchased a different brand. PRINCESS BLAZE KING will burn for up to 30 hours on 60 pounds of wood. DO SOME RESEARCH. And buy a better brand than DROLET 🤔

I’m sorry you have not had a good experience. We do have with ours. It heats out home well, Burns the coals down, and we are able to get about 6 hours burn time.

@@gmannubs6812 make sure you always clean your firebox out so theres room for coals and ash. They are designed to burn wood and collect the ash and coal a specific way. If you cant figure it out get a gas stove

Great video, just ordered this stove, can't wait for it to arrive. I went with the 1800 over the 1500 for the slightly bigger box. Question: did you insulate your liner or just leave it as is?

J4 farms question have you ever inspected the design of the draft control ? Mine has a factory hole in it thanks to the epa 2020 standard. Did you mod yours any to control the draft better? Last year mine was loaded like yours in the video and my stove got really hot 550 to 600. It made me a little nervous. Where does yours normally run?

Thanks for the info. What's the heat like without the blower? I've read the protruding inserts radiate alot of heat like a stove, and also a natural convection current occurs due to heat rising, though obviously not as good as with the blower on. Would love to hear your experience. Thanks!

J4 Farms - I noticed your power cord for the blower goes off to the RIGHT side of the unit. Did you customize that as all the pictures I can view online show the power cord coming off to the Left? I only have a close outlet to the RIGHT and would like to know how you set yours up. Thanks!
@EmergingTechJim
@EmergingTechJim Жыл бұрын
The power cord exits the blower unit on the same side as the blower switch which is on the left side when properly installed so it looks like he ran it under the blower unit (it is raised - see the stones he has under it?) so it can plug in on the right side. Your installation may or may not enable the power cord to do this.

Are you not getting a longer burn time because you dont dampen the fire down?
@j4farms859
@j4farms859 3 жыл бұрын
No we use the damper. The burn time is strictly burning. You can open the door and allow the coals to burn down when home and heat longer.

This review was done about a year after install. You have to remove the damper from the fireplace but yes it was relatively easy and definitely a great investment for us.

We average at about 40 -50 degrees in the day and 20-30 degrees in the nights. Some days are warmer and some are cooler but that’s the average.
