James! Thank you so much for this amazing footage. It’s been 15 years since I’ve called Athens, Texas, home, but there isn’t a day that goes by that my mind doesn’t find its way home again. Thank you again!

Really nice looking town, not too big! Good to see you again, James! Like to see your videos whenever you are out and about. I don't drive around much these days, either!

Hi Jeannette😎 I have not wanted to pay the extra for gas so this was my first trip with most areas I am going under $3.00 per gallon. This was a nice little town.

You did a lovely viewpoint of the place. And for those wondering about the living conditions about the town. It's. . . A decent place to live in I guess. The property taxes are high. The public school system isn't good. You're better off homeschooled honestly. Because they don't take kindly to those with disabilities. And starting from Pre-K, they segregate those of the same color together. Instead of, you know, mixing everyone up equally. At least not until Middle school. Which I got to say is located at the very edge of Athens. You even got to pass the Hospital to get to it. Speaking of which, if you have anything concerned medically. Got to Tyler instead. My fam and I over the years haven't had the best experiences at our local hospital. Oh and a ambulance ride there will cost you about $1,000. Learnt that from my recent car crash incident. As for the elderly homes within the place. I'm not too sure if it would be comfortable for them. There's always thieves who will sometimes steal from you in the middle of the day even. And they mostly target the old folks who still have their own homes. Plus there's a lot of noise all the time. Rather it be from passing traffic, or the trains that frequently pass through the town. Watch out for the train when passing the tracks. There's a certain road where it doesn't have that car halting arm that lowers when a train is about to pass. And because of the lack thereof, people have been in multiple car crashes after being rammed by the train. You can still see flowers left on the side of the road to those who tragically died. One of them was my younger bro's classmate. The judge proclaimed the old white bus driver as not guilty. So all the victims family who are penniless can do is keep the fake flowers tidy every week. Oh and there was this other girl who survived that same crash. She immediately started getting bullied the day she returned to school. Still in crutches and bruised. I'm telling you this as an example of how much the schools suck. There's also rumored gang in town. But so far the signs I've seen of them is hanging shoes on electric power lines and discreetly going to the local parks at night to sell drugs. But other than that idk. But don't fret, the local police do their regular rounds. They're not strictly uptight. But aren't ignorant to everything either. Like for example they'll catch you if you're car's numbers are expired and quickly pull you over. But they mostly deal with domestic stuff which I'm sure gives them grey hairs. So to speak. Just make sure you're not a person of color if you get stopped by them. It's really stressful. Unless you're friends with one of them then- nevermind. The food around these parts are mediocre at best. They mostly consist of fast food places. Here's a list of some of them: Braums, Burger King, McDonald's, Panda Express, KFC, Chicken Express, Julio's, Sonic, Hunan Buffet(they financially abuse their workers), McAlister's(they have a ceiling leak in their kitchen that sometimes falls on the food.), Applebees(smells like cigarettes and alcohol), Kens Pizza, and Dominos(long waits despite it being a small town and you can't get ahold of the manager by phone. But I gotta admit, their pizzas are really good). That's all that comes to mind about Athens for now.
