Homes that cost $600k four years ago are $950k to $1 M in the North Dallas area. So, unless you move to rural areas, the cost of homes has changed in the last five years. My neighbor bought his home two years before us for half the price. I think people are working with outdated information when it comes to TX being cheap. Not any more. Dude, there are plenty of homeless in Hidalgo. You just don't see them Cuz there are plenty of brush for them to sleep under. And the fajita Cook off is jot enough to entice people to come here. The biggest draw is our close relationship to Reynosa and it's maquilas. Hidalgo grew because of Nafta. Plain and simple.

Second of all you typically see homeless people asking for money which are nowhere to be found in the city of Hidalgo and I’m pretty sure you might be talking of Hidalgo county as a whole and anyways why does it matter how the city or county grew this country was founded on the harsh labor of slaves and stealing from the native so doesn’t get much lower than that

Well I'm in the RGV also. It's nice here but, property taxes are very high and it's very hot here. High 90s to 116 or so. Hard to do things out in that hot weather. It's easy to move around, we have some very nice roads here. Car prices here tend to be higher. I think that is due to a monopoly on the business. I think they could combine several towns like McAllen, Mission, Alton, Edinburgh and a few more into one city. These towns are all continguous. It's not bad here. We have everything any other city has and a lot more peaceful than many other cities.

What makes the RGV rank so low is the proximity to the border, and all the issues that come with that’s, health care is the pits, I worked in that industry over 20 years 15 of them in the mid valley, grew up in Brownsville but had to leave, best choice I made back in 2004, moved to Harlingen mid valley area had some potential, but typical valley style growth, and the allure to bring innovative industries to the RGV never took off, so like any other valley city, if you don’t work in Politics, Healthcare, Law enforcement, or Education there isn’t any other other major industry where one can work and thrive. The lower RGV is also one of the lowest incomes levels in the country, and has the highest recipients of Medicaid and other gov subsidies. As compared to other metro areas in the state minimum wage is still around 7.75 to 8.00 starting,

Dallas, Arlington, Fort Worth... 3 distinctively separate cities, each with their own mayor, political, and voter base, are all part of the D/FW area spanning across multiple counties. All three have a plethora of entertainment, commerce, and residential options for each tax bracket despite cost of living differences. Arlington is in Tarrant County. Dallas is in the neighboring Dallas County. Yet the official stadium for the Dallas Cowboys is in Arlington. But that does not make them the same city.

I do not care what people say I love Lubbock. However the part about us being one of the most boring places, is highly accurate. There is nothing to do here except eat out at restaurants😂. You won't see me complain however, because I would much rather live in a boring City with good roads and low traffic, than live in a city like Dalles or Austin where it will take you twice the time to drive where you need to go due to tourists, than it would here. Also I feel that it is important to note that what was said about our weather is very over exaggerated. I have been in college in Oklahoma City for the last year and they have much worse weather. I doubt think we had a single tornado last year in Lubbock, but we had three or four last year in Oklahoma city, and I was told by those who live in Oklahoma that tornados are a regular occurrence. That is not the case for Lubbock; we seldom get tornados. Our thunderstorms are also not as bad as this video would have you believe.

I use to live in Arlington and can vouch that it’s too expensive or close to being too expensive. But that doesn’t make it one of the worse places to live in Texas. To piggyback off of what you said, the city has three major professional sports franchises, multiple parks and trails, Arlington Scottish Highlands off of I-20 and between Matlock St and Collins St have tons of eating and shopping venues let alone the rest of the city. I will admit it is a bit too expensive once again and why I moved. There are other cities on this list that have excellent family and single person venues and things to do. One more time, if he or anyone wants to do a list of ten most expensive places to live in Texas, that’s fine. On the original list of this video, I think I agree with only 2 or 3 for sure that belong on a list of ten worst places to live in Texas. I agree with the border cities and would add two more to that list and then include some East Texas cities and Central Texas cities and one Gulf Coast city and one Panhandle city but not the ones that you think.

From this Texans POV, half of the cities on this list are on the US/Mexico border. I'll give anyone 3 guesses why those particular cities are not the most ideal locations to move to. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to many, the Mexican cartels operate the border on both sides and have for many years. Hopefully, when a border wall is fully implemented, we will see substantial imprivements. That is whst we anticipate anyhow. Yes, Lubbock is boring. It sits practucallybon the middle of the state. It is a college town and the closest larger cities are Amarillo & Abikene, both which are just as boring as Lubbock. Arlington surprised me as it is home to the Texas Rangers and the Cowboys. Also, Six Flags abd Hurricane Harbor (formerly Wet n' Wild). But even more than this, Arlington is the central point fir Dallas/Ft Worth which makes everything accessible depending on which way one goes. Dallas/Ft Worth surprised me not because of cost of living but because anything and everything one could wish to do is somewhere around here. What truly makes things horrible, especially here in DFW is traffic! Too many people moving here too fast. I know it's a great state but if people continue to move here at this rate, we won't be for long.

It looks very poor to me. I guess I'm just spoiled living in a wealthy liberal state like Colorado. I wonder how people in these poor southern states feel like they're somehow better or smarter than us. Some of these southern states don't even have a minimum wage, perhaps because they're just used to forcing free labor on people. Furthermore, Texans, Oklahomans and other Southerners are moving here to Colorado by the droves, by the thousands, looking for work and for a better life. Yet they still behave like they're back home. They walk around like they're better than everyone else. Well if that we're the case, then what the heck are they even doing here? Why don't they stay back in Texas making their $7 an hour? They're fleeing poverty and violence, looking for a better life in beautiful, liberal, wealthy and well managed Colorado, yet they continue to wave around their big Texas flags while making fun of the locals. We don't want their corrupt politics and backwards ways around here ruining our state in the same manner that they ruined theirs! If they're not willing to assimilate and respect our local culture and work ethic, then don't even come here at all! My ancestors and forefathers were some of the very first settlers here in Colorado, both Comanche and Spanish. We developed this state since the 1500's, well before Plymouth and the pilgrims. Now we have to deal with these southern economic refugees that have come here only to ruin our good quality of life and good work ethic.

I've lived in Texas for 48 of my 60 years. I've lived in El Paso, Dallas, Fort Worth, Nacogdoches, College Station, Austin, and Houston. I can't recommend Texas as a place to live unless you have cancer. MDACC is the best thing Texas has going for it. Everything else is a negative. The weather, the traffic, the taxes, the shoddy home construction, the lack of culture, the Dark Ages politics, the lack of education (see: Portofino Center's Statue of David story), the lack of zoning, and the gross, filthy beaches. Nothing good. I'm moving out of state as soon as I can afford it.
