Awesome review Nick! I have been watching all your videos since your first a few years back! We talked quiet a bit on the phone about the deer recovery options way back. Wish I would’ve just bit the bullet and got one. I fly a 300 rtk at work for the fire and rescue teams. You still get a lot of calls to come over to MN and do search and rescue missions? Keep up the amazing videos. Jarit

I sometimes help North Star Rescue of that way in MN. I swear that stay has a ton of calls compared to WI.

But the 3T has the same thermal as the 30T right? I’ve compared them, same thing. 30T is still a better drone for sure but being able to throw the 3T in a small pack and hike back in is invaluable

When I researched that issue, that’s the result I came up with. They have the same thermal sensor. The only advantage with the 30T is that it has the laser rangefinder.

@@americansoldier7776 right, and with it being bigger and heavier, it does better in wind. I can throw my 3T in a Fanny pack or my backpack pretty easy along with four batteries and the controller. If I had to do it all over again, I’d still get the 3T, half the price and extremely effective on our ranch, Quest Haven Lodge. Just waiting for that spotlight mount to come out, which should be soon!

This is where I disagree, I can find deer with zero issues with my 3T. I’m not gonna lie, I love the 30T but unless I’m getting a return in that investment there’s no need.

..that ‘3T’ is going to please 90-95 of the masses, virtually on price alone.

I wish I could get into this kind of work. But it's illegal in Louisiana using drones for deer recovery. Too bad...we have huge hunting clubs here

3T and 30T both use a 640x512 thermal sensor - I dont get how they are night and day different can you please explain?
@marshfielddrones839

The sensors are close but the ability to process the data recieved is significant. I will try and get a flight session lined up in the next couple weeks where I can get a couple piolts to fly all three at one time and look at the same locations at the same time so you can see the difference on the screens as how the data is presented. The 30T does have a super res mode bringing the it to 1280 x 1024. Seeing is believing so stay posted.

Do you ever use the Mavic to look for deer or just the matrice?
@whiskey67
@whiskey67 Жыл бұрын
I have a Mavic 3t shown in the video. I have two spotlights for the drone and it does work for deer recovery. A spotlight payload is essential for confirming the dead deer for a recovery. I could do a video on the new t30 spotlight as that is the payload I would recommend for the Mavic 3T.

What would you charge for deer recovery on average?
@marshfielddrones839
@marshfielddrones839 Жыл бұрын
I change 250 to look and another 100 when I find it if the recovery is within 30 minutes drive. I charge a travel fee when I go farther.

I assume. you would also have to have a license to charge for the drone deer recovery??

That is correct you must have a part 107.

Is it possible to load onyx on the rc plus controller?
@whiskey67
@whiskey67 Жыл бұрын
Technically yes you could side-load the APK and run on the controller. I personally wouldn't as you don't want to go dragging a $1600 controller thru the woods risking damaging it. I personally just run it on my cell and transfer the coordinates to my cell phone.

Wouldn't it helpful to list the states (in the US) that allow such activities???? so people may find themselves in a legal bind through ignorance of local/state hunting laws.

I am slowly getting a list together of states that allow the use of a drone for dead game recovery. Every state has varying laws so I have been working with indiviald interseted in getting into drone recoveries and their states DNR. What state do you reside inn?
@Ryannn..
@Ryannn.. Жыл бұрын
Sadly MI is no as of right now / the dnr is citing 2 laws and there stance based on the interpretation of those laws is that it is illegal.

You drone guys seriously need to stop calling yourself pilots. Spending 175$ for a peace of plastic from the faa does not a pilot make. A commercial pilot spends close to 100,000$ and that doesn't even qualify them to fly for the airlines. That 100,000$ gives them 250 hours, when they need at absolute minimum of 1000 hours to fly for the airlines to make any actual money. Most (90%) of com pilots have to become CFI's to build hours and make something like 20-25$ an hour for 6 months to a year while paying something like 1500$ a month on loans. This is just a small example of why flying a little toy is not at all the same as flying a real aircraft, and absolutely not worthy of the title PILOT.

An operator of any aircraft is a pilot. You outlined a commercial pilot. Someone recovering a deer is an example of a remote pilot. Doesn't matter how much education you have, the activity is operating an aircraft. The term to describe an operator of any aircraft is, once again, a pilot.
