Amtrak Coast Starlight Train passing through the Horseshoe Curve and Stenner Creek Trestle Bridge in San Luis Obispo, CA. Sped this up 2x so the video wouldn't be so long.

Fantastic!!! It might have mostly been the music, but what an incredible perspective. I had no idea those went so fast, so far, so high. It's like making a real life model train layout. Thanks so much.

Fantastic filming, great (and appropriate) music, and i love that Horseshoe Curve. As a long-time repeat rider of both the old Daylight and the current Coast Starlight, this showed me a viewpoint i had only mentally visualized and never seen. Thank you!

Thanks for this view of home for me. I remember riding the milk train in kindergarten up Cuesta grade and back and I'm not a youngster anymore. Love trains.

The Horseshoe Curve was amazing to see and experience. In fact the ride into San Luis Obisbo was jaw dropping from a scenery point of view. Then as you get a view of the ocean at sunset, the train slows down for the setting of the sun. Bravo Amtrak.

Great video of my favorite long distance Amtrak train on my most favorite Amtrak route-The Pacific Surfliner/Coast Starlight/Capital Corridor/Cascades Corridor from San Diego to Vancouver-The entire West Coast Amtrak route.

Excellent drone footage. DREADFUL train ride. I wonder if America knows they have trains that go 220 mph and use a STRAIGHT route.

@Ted Cartwright Thanks, I'm glad you like it! The footage was sped up just over 2x.

Really? I thought that train seemed to be going a bit too fast around that curve, lol.

I rode the Coast Starlight with several members of my family from LA to Seattle last month (Oct., 2018). My thought when going through this area was that railroad design and construction people have to be crazy! Climbing those grades and peering down into valleys was even more fun than riding the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, PA, which we have also done a few times. Great video! And, for those who object to the music, just turn down the sound and find something you like at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_train_songs#O.

Nice video. You wonder if the drone had flown more left at the horseshoe, over the prison, if the guards would have shot it down?
@StevenMConroy7 жыл бұрын
+Tall Sky i was definitely trying to avoid that but I'm sure they would've loved the target practice.
@TallSky7 жыл бұрын
Lol yes - they would have, but your camera work in following the train is excellent.

Amtrak should ask you to make their commercials. ! Encore What is the range if your drone ? OMG.

Excellent and very different views of the train., was that your parked RV next to the track which was visible for a while? Superb quality video too. Here in the UK there's much negative comment about drone videos but your flying was obviously well controlled and sensible. I look forward to seeing more of the American., well done Sir! Rob

why didn t the track go straight accross instead of the horseshoe

I believe Cuesta Grade tops out at 116 feet to the mile, or just about 2.2%. I'm not sure if the grade is compensated (reduced on the curves to compensate for the additional drag) or not.

Awesome video. I think I'm just gonna sell all my model trains and get a drone instead. It's like watching a super-realistic model railroad with curves that are normal and not too tight like models have to be. The only thing I don't like about this is the hoedown music. Really poor choice when you could have picked something that captured the grandeur instead.

Yeah I plugged my headphones in hoping to hear the train or at least some epic music to match the intensity of the incredible drone footage....lol nope we'll have this annoying goofy hoedown song hahahaha
@computergroup2566 жыл бұрын
For the people sharing their negativity and naivety about music, the music is actually very appropriate...it is Orange Blossom Special which is a very well-known song about trains by Johnny Cash. There's nothing wrong about having your own musical preference, but there are more appropriate ways of making suggestions. This video was clearly made by someone who is more interested in trains than someone who's simply flicking thru videos on youtube.

In the opinion of this guitar shredding metal head, the music was perfect and well suited for this video. Great job.

Great footage. Nat sound would have been preferable to the circus music.
