A week after returning to Singapore from my Bangkok trip, my family had already planned to go up to Genting Highlands since we have not gone up there since the Covid-19 pandemic. We used to go up there every year, given that we were often provided free rooms by @resortsworldgenting due to our Genting membership.
My stay at the mountain-top resort was pretty long, and I found myself wanting to explore more outside of the hotel, theme park, casino and mall environments. I always need a breath of nature. So one day, my friends and I decided to visit Chin Swee Temple, accessible via a 10-minutes cable car ride down the peak of the mountain where we stayed. I was amazed by the breathtaking views the location gifted us.
Exhausting all three of my drone batteries and excitedly flying through clouds, I managed to capture an hour of banger footage. It was hard to choose what shots would go into making this cinematic given how fascinating every shot was. I was tempted to just put almost every usable shot in this video, making it 10 minutes long. That would probably fly as a mood piece on KZbin where long-form content are more popular, but viewers on Instagram will likely just get bored. Not to mention, the Instagram algorithm would kill a video that long since the platform is focusing more on fast-cut reels.
I went for a different feel this time, with heavier emotional undertones and a more underexposed, faded high contrast cinematic grading with muted colours to evoke a moody oriental sensation fitting the location.
Aerial shots captured using DJI Mavic Air 2, in 4K 30FPS D-Cinelike Picture Profile. Edited and coloured in Premiere Pro.
