I swam there as a kid. I remember the see saw and picnic area. My grandfather (Pawlowski) worked at Hercules

My dad told me stories of swimming in the Sayreville/Parlin "clay pits" in the late 1930's- early 1940s; great to see your video.

This is a Superfund area and ground and the ground water are heavily contaminated .

To be honest, I always wondered about the safety of the water in the sand bottom pool we swam in there as kids....to thes day I wonder about that. Any idea who would know the answer to that question? Especially since it's a Superfund site.....

I wonder about the safety of it, too. I would lean towards it being unsafe. I don’t know if you could get an answer to that, now.

I remember going there with my family. My cousins lived in Laurel Park and we lived in Madison Park. I never wanted to go in the water there. What are they building near Ashland and Dupont. It gives me the creeps.

A few years ago, I got sent out to work at the reservoir nearby (I had NO CLUE it was even there! Nice place! But, I thought the story / history of the reservoir and the whole area down there was fascinating! These HUGE corporations working together to really build up, not only their facilities, but that whole area! (despite the occasional explosions) 😊

Thank you for posting the video. I have always wondered what was behind Hercules, now Ashland gates

Could you go over the Crossman clay pit?
@imajinest73794 жыл бұрын
That's the area they are developing right across from the Steel Mill, right? I've flown there before but never posted. I'll head out there again. It is right near my house

Thank you for this video. I learned to swim in the sand bottom pool there. My dad retired from Hercules 40 years ago. It's hard to believe it's all gone, that place was massive. Whatever happened to the pool, do you know?
@imajinest73792 жыл бұрын
Thanks for stopping by! It was massive. Someone else had asked me about a pool at Hercules. I don’t remember that and I did not see it when I was flying there

@@imajinest7379 I think I saw it towards the end of your video. There's a small pond to the right of the lake with the remote control boat. There's a fence line in the water that divided the pool so the little kids had a fairly shallow section. On the other side were the floating docks and diving board. It was nice when kept up, I'm surprised it wasn't salvage, especially since it's fairly close to the lake that the boat is in.... Going back to your video, I think that's it at the 12:31 point. You can see what's left of the beach in the foreground, the fence that goes across on the left, the dock on the right...and across from the dock is where the diving board used to be. I also remember that wall to the right, no one ever swam over there so I don't know what it's purpose was. On the far left was a wooden box that I used to jump off of and across from the beach area is where you used to be able to get fresh cooked burgers and such until the year they replaced it with vending machines. It's a shame no one took it over, it was a great place to swim for kids...

cool video make more!!! what drone do you have? I'm from sayreville also. Im looking to buy the new DJI FPV or the DJI mavic air 2
@imajinest73793 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I’m going to make some more now that the weather is nicer. I shot this with my Phantom 4 Pro. I also have a Mavic Mini. A friend of mine has the Air 2 and loves it. The FPV looks really cool, but I have to think about it. I think it will be more challenging to fly and you’re supposed to always have a spotter with you. I’m going to be watching a lot of the videos later to see it in action
