Get used to it. Record high temperatures and record rain fall, all in recent years. Marston Mortaine where the A421, is flooded is only 42m (137ft) above sea level. Considering how far away Marston and Bedford is from the sea, is easy to see your the rivers can quickly be overwhelmed.

Nice bit of filming! Would have liked to see footages of Kempston and Great Denham.

Thanks 😊. I'd like to have gotten the footage too but my drone batteries weren't up to the task sadly. Gt Denham/Kempston flood plains were absolutely full (still a bit of surface water out there today but didn't bring the drone to work with me)

the 98 floods were higher, just! I was out taking photos on my motorbike during those floods 😁 and fond memories of people canoeing through the Dodgems on Longholme as the fairground was underwater 🤣

What's that big dramatic music about? Sounds like a film score. Doesn't fit with this video.
@BeyondBedlam70Ай бұрын
meh, it was 0230 on a Sunday morning and i didn't have a bit of music long enough to go with the vid so i created something in Udio. Totally guilty of not putting much effort into it and this is the result 🤣
@alanpontet1671Ай бұрын
I see nothing that dramatic - it's a flood plain and it's flooded. Those who build on flood plains have themselves to blame - and those who buy property they know to be on a flood plain have themselves to blame.
@BeyondBedlam70Ай бұрын
@alanpontet1671 the unusual aspect in this particular case is the unseasonal duration of the flooding. We often get a couple of days of it at this time of year (although it's more often in Jan/Feb) but its never been over a week at a time in the 30 years I've been in Bedford and it was almost 2 weeks this time.
@alanpontet1671Ай бұрын
@@BeyondBedlam70 acknowledged - it's still a flood plain doing its job.
