Drone Footage of the Virgin River during a flash flood near Zion National Park 6/29/2021

Flash flood on June 29, 2022. It made the virgin river rise from 50cfs to 2000cfs in a couple of minutes.

Outstanding flying skills! You stayed so low, so close to bushes, debris, the water... Risky but what a video and it ain't CGI! I got a ride in an F-111 once a long time ago, 90 feet at 680 knots, it was intense, your video is almost better, it's damn sure a lot lower.

Downside is slight blurring from moving too fast. Would be much cleaner with slower flying.

We were at Chief Sleep Easy RV Park in 2010 to 2011 season when a mans house floated down the river near the park! 2nd time in five years that it happened to him!

I recognized Sheep Bridge pretty quickly but have never seen that diversion dam nor do I have any clue where it's at along the river. We're in the area often too! Thanks for sharing such great footage!

So this is near Zion but not in it. It is about 20 miles outside the park. I do know it is illigal to fly in the Town of Springdale and ZNPO

This is the Virgin River about 15 miles downstream of Zion National Park. I shot the footage in two different locations. One above the diversion dam and one below the diversion dam. That is why the more rocky and steep section has very little water before the floodwaters arrive. It took a little over 3 hours for the flash flood to travel the 15 miles to Virgin Utah. There was plenty of warning to setup the cameras.

Cool video. Be careful. My great grandmother's first husband was killed in the Virgin River during a flood. He was standing on the bank when the water washed it out.
