I placed my order for the EVO 2 on Jan 20th. I put down $249. I was invoiced on the 19th in March for the balance due. I paid $1695 on the rugged bundle. I'm not some rich guy. I just tried to budget to be able to pay for it. I will not cancel my pre-order. The more people cancel will help me get mine faster.

The "8k" model is not a true 8k camera. It's an IMX586 which is a Sony quad Bayer sensor. This means it has 12 million Bayer color filters that has 4 photosites under each RGGB color filter. So, 4 photosites (aka "pixels") are getting one, single colored light source. The IMX586 48mp sensor is not there to improve resolution, it's there for quad Bayer dual exposure timing. The IMX586 is a really a 12 mp resolution sensor.

You hit the nail on the head with your comments regarding Autel and Skydio drone launches of sales. After waiting months and putting off my vacation, due to my wanting to use the Skydio 2 for filming, I canceled my order and placed one with Autel for the new Evo 2. Now I am going through another repeat of the same thing once again. So, now that economic conditions have deteriorated so sharply I am going to cancel my order for the Evo 2.

Great show and thanks a lot for all the insights and different aspects! Every story was great to listen to. Especially the thoughts about flying drones for police or other state authorities during Covid-19. I was asked to prepare for some flying during the crisis, too. After thinking about it I was not so sure anymore if it would be such a good idea to fly a M2ED for "any kind of" authority tasks. Your conclusion of keeping in mind that a commercial drone pilot should only get involved in tasks that help creating a positive image of the drone industry in the long term is a truly holistic approach. Respect!

Thank you for a great news show. The knee jerk reaction to the aversion to Chinese parts was predicted, and I agree with your assessment as to the possible negative impact to the industry. Using drones to aid in social distancing for security forces kind of scares me. Also saw a drone stuck in a tree and the pilot hired a cat rescuer who was able to climb up to 75 feet and save the drone with minimal damage. Looking forward to DroneXL.

Imagine how many Chinese parts are in all nest, ring and all google security cameras, cell phone, tablets, and people don’t think twice about those but when it comes to drones TOTALLY different attitudes. Ignorance is bliss I guess.

@hurricane watcher If it hurts the FAA remote ID issue, then we would at least have something good come from the virus. At this point the virus is happening so we might as well look for any bit of good that might come from it. Having the virus does not give the government permission to ruin our lives with remote ID.

The Coronavirus has saved the Autel blunder by announcing a drone that wasn't ready for launch when it was supposed to be. Right now Drones like every product is now hibernation.

New drone is definitely not at the bottom of my list! hahaha maybe a notch or two down from the top though, just sayin... lol The waiting game for DJI's new products is killing me though....

Where that Lite Switch Let me at it. Drones (QUADS) have taken a Great 80+ year old Hobby and summarily trashed it.
