The drone is an awesome tool for archaeologists, as your video indicates. What an incredibly exciting way to add to our knowledge base of the original Jamestown fort! I wish we would have had one of these in the 80's when I was excavating at Flowerdew Hundred.

I noticed that a corner of the fort has presumably eroded away into the river in the past. Has your team done any archaeological work in the river over the past 20 years, or has it all been focused on the land. Thanks

We've focused on land where the artifacts remain in the context that the colonists left them, whereas out in the river the objects have lost their context. That being said at some point it would be interesting to see what's out there. At the very least we get a sense of presence or absence of certain materials at Jamestown.

@@JamestownRediscovery I agree with the comments about the river. The James holds a lot of Jamestown history on the river bottom. I am interested in knowing more about exactly where the ships docked and what items were tossed or dropped overboard.
