Thanks for showing how to cycle through the LED lights!! Couldn't figure it out on my own 😅

I have an ALT, and briefly had a SHIFT. I sold the shift to get a different board, but I think I'd go back if the lighting effects were better. If you build a profile for the ALT via QMK's online configurator, it adds a ton of lighting effects. I don't think anyone's done that for the SHIFT yet, but if they did I'd consider going back to get another one. Anyone here have a SHIFT and have any luck adding more effects?

I love my Alt high-profile. Thinking about all the keycap sets with extra numpads that I bought and won't be able to install. So I just made an order of a Shift! Surprisingly very few reviews out there for Shift on KZbin! Thanks for your sharing, great review.

Thanks Eric! If you love your Alt, I'm sure you'll love the Shift too. :)

So i see that you have the divide sign keycap and the multiplication sign keycap installed on the numpad. My question is that my shift keyboard came with the (/) keycap and the (*) keycap installed and when I puchesed the Drop MATT30 Keycap Set (1800 Kit) it didnt come with those particular keys. so i did what you did and just put the divide sign and multication key caps in its place but i cant figure out how to replace it using there QMK firmware, it seems like its not even an option on there. I was just wondering if you happened to fix this problem. Thanks

what set of keycaps do you need for the shift, i.e a 104 key set, 108 etc etc :)

An 1800 layout kit. I linked the particular set I purchased in the description (and added 1800 kit to that, thank you!) so you can see if there are other pieces of info on that page you might find helpful.

What's the size comparison like vs. a standard TKL layout?
@MattBorchert4 жыл бұрын
Here are the dimensions for the SHIFT - 15.2 x 5.5 x 1.7 in (38.6 x 14 x 4.3 cm) For comparison, these are the dimensions for the CTRL which is TKL - 14.5 x 5.5 x 1.4 in (36.8 x 14 x 3.6 cm) So about 3/4 of an inch longer.

@@MattBorchert So the shift is just a tiny bit bigger than the ctrl. Since I have 2 TKLs already I'm buying Shift insted of Ctrl to have a taste of different layouts.

Since I don't own both I can't visually compare, but they do seem to be quite similar in size.

@@MattBorchert Awesome that's what I needed to know! Shift looks like a fantastic option then.

do you think the high profile is worthit
@MattBorchert3 жыл бұрын
Totally personal preference. I'm happy with my low profile, but the high profiles can feel a bit more "solid" and have a different aesthetic. Actual functionality should be nigh identical.

i was also thinking of building my own keyboard tkl but i cant find any 80 percent cases can u help?
@MattBorchert3 жыл бұрын
I personally prefer the low profile because it's a bit easier to clean with compressed air, but totally up to you about what you value most. I haven't built my own keyboard before so I'm not super familiar with the options there sadly.

@@MattBorchert ok makes sense i dont even think its worthit to pay n extra 50 bucks for plastic
