I’ve been watching the reviews trying to figure out which CRK I would end up throwing a BUNCH of money at and this video made my mind up. A small insingo 31 Sebenza should be arriving in a couple of weeks.

I’m with you, the insingo is the best blade shape out there in my opinion. I do like the look of the drop point more though.

I’ve owned two crks.. my first was a small, micarta insingo. It was a fine knife but I just wasn’t feeling the blade shape. I’d actually wanted a plain one too but this was the only one I could get locally at the time. I ultimately decided to sell it but while I was at work, my girlfriend did some cleaning and threw it out.. yes, tossed a $400+ knife in the trash. In her defense, she didn’t know the value, but that still doesn’t excuse throwing out my stuff. Ugh. Anyway it took me a good six or seven years to get another but I’d been carrying a sanrenmu 7010 in the meantime and loved it, so I knew what I wanted.. just a real one. So recently I stopped by my local retailer and they’d just gotten a small shipment of them. Including two small, plain 31s. I thought about it for a week, asking myself if I was sure that was what I wanted and decided it was. I’ve had my new crk for a week or so now and don’t regret it one bit. To me, this really is my endgame knife. I plan to carry, use, and probably abuse it a little for years and years to come. When I compare the cost the the $1-200 knives I usually carry, it’s not even that bad.. especially considering that owning this genuinely will keep me from buying others.. for example, I bought a zt0450 hoping it would eliminate my want for the crk. Instead, it only made me want one more.. it just had a handful of little issues that kept me from wanting to EDC it, and she was retired to my knife shelf after a week or two.

I like both. I prefer Insingo in the Small because I get more straight edge length in the smaller blade. In the large I can take both, but I generally get the clip point in large just to mix up my options since I don’t have a million of these.
@terencechang54573 жыл бұрын
Agreed with your comment. I have a drop point. After using it for a while, with my EDC tasks very similar to yours, I think the Insingo would suit me better too. Next one might be the Large Inkosi insingo with S45VN. Thanks for great video!

That same configuration is probably gonna be my next CRK. Hopefully they will get some out soon but I’m prepared to wait a while because it’s a specific configuration

I bought a large plain Sebenza with a Drop Point blade first and then got a small Sebenza with the micarta and Insingo. I’m leaning more toward team Insingo.
@jamesmathews79583 жыл бұрын
I have both of these blades in the large Inkosi. I think the drop point is more rugged because of the thickness at the tip over the Insingo. But I like the more straight cutting edge on the Insigio. IMO, they’re both equally good, depends on what your EDC tasks are.

Thanks for the comparison. I’ve got a large inkosi DP I’m thinking about a small sebenza insingo to go with it.

Have Insigno, Drop Point, and Tanto. Tough call to which is best. Piercing is either Tanto or DP. Slicing is Insigno with Tanto close second. All three have their place. Glad to own all three. Find it's all luck if I have the right blade for the right situation.

The drop point is more attractive but the insingo is more functional.

Couldn't agree more. They're both great, and very useful, blade shapes, but the insingo would always be my choice between the two. My EDC for the last 8 or so months has a blade shape that's very similar to the insingo, but is about half an inch longer. Watching all your recent CR content has finally pushed me to getting an umnumzaan. I've never had one, and I've never had a CR tanto, so when I saw one come up for sale I figured it was a great time to try both.
@itsaknifestyle84824 жыл бұрын
The umnumzaan is probably going to my next CRK, that or a small Sebenza. I’m looking forward to hearing how you like the knife and the blade shape. Thanks for watching👍

@@itsaknifestyle8482 I'll definitely let you know what I think! I've never really liked tantos. When i was in the Marine Corp, it seemed like everyone that liked knives had an Emerson tanto, and they never did anything better than my 940, and did a whole lot worse, so I always stayed away from them. My norseman and bailout have certainly showed me the usefulness of a good tanto though, so I'm definitely excited to try one from CR.
@itsaknifestyle84824 жыл бұрын
The weird thing about tantos for me is that I only have one, which is a Boker Strike, that I have hardly ever used. A lot of times when buying a new knife with blade shape options, I will opt for a more normal blade shape than something like a tanto, so I’ve never really given one a chance.

Good discussion of the strengths of both blade shapes. I acknowledge the Insingo would be more practical and functional for my uses, but I just don’t like the way it looks - enough that I chose drop point for my Inkosi 😆

After owning all three of CRK’s blade shapes I find the Insingo the most useful for all my tasks.
@thui78892 жыл бұрын
Love the usable belly on the insingo, but aesthetically I prefer drop point. The tanto is my least favorite because that second edge at the top is highly unused and shortens my actual cutting length

If I were to get a sebenza, as you or anyone who has both should I get the 31 with the upgraded ceramic ball on lock bar or insingo? I love both blade shapes but do gravitate towards insingo a bit but wouldn't deter me from a purchase

My first knife from CRK was Sebenza 21 Insingo Large. In that time this was my Grail. Great slicer, light weight and in one word - Perfection. After two years i bought a small Sebenza Insingo on black micarta. Man! This was like woow for me and I think - is this Grail of Grails? But... Small Sebenza is... To small. As a edc knife i think is pure perfection. But as the one and only knife - not so much. After that i bought Large Inkosi in droppoint. And then i realized that: perfect knife, one and only for all my life, Grail of Grails for me is Inkosi Insingo PJ. In the meantime i have another Inkosi from first run, Large Sebenza 21 droppoint, Impinda (great slipjoint imo) but in the end i sold all this knives and now i carry, used, and love just one - Inkosi Insingo. Simpler construction, little bit stronger, double thumb lug (!), better jimping, less screws but still amazing slicer, light weight, super grippy and many more. Yes, i love my Inkosi and Insingo is the best blade shape ever. For me of course;)

I need to get myself an inkosi, I think I’m gonna hold off until I can get one in S45VN, I’m still not sure if I’m going to get a large or small, but I know I’m going for the Insingo blade. Since this video I’ve picked up a small 21 Insingo and an umnumzaan, so the inkosi is the next one on the list. Thanks for watching

I definitely prefer the Insingo, though the Tanto isn't bad either. Standard Drop Point blades don't do much for me. They are the least useful blade shape for EDC, the most stabby/intimidating (not a good thing IMO), and I personally don't care for the looks.
