Trust me even newbies with spec work can be gold. 2. You ask them for a specific task to do (short task). Sometimes it's just in our head and once we see their work, it's something else. We gotta be sure. Pay them for an hour for that short task and see if they deliver that quality what you're looking for and their vibe matches yours before going all in.
