@@zainabnaqviii I think they were good for building a base of knowledge about copywriting principles that I didn’t know before. But the ones I took didn’t provide any suggestions to actually practice writing, choose a niche, or any info about finding clients. So if you have zero knowledge about the field of copywriting then they are good to take, but you may have to look elsewhere for actual exercises and resources that will help you grow as a writer.

@@moby786 yes, writing about anything is advised. it don't have to be copywriting. the first thing is to get writing everyday. writing daily helps because it is like a warm up before a workout. To make it simple. Writing 20 minutes a day about fictional stories or anything that comes to your mind. it could be writing about your gold fish, well, that is like a warm up. but when you write something that's copywriting related then that is the actual workout.

Hi Mike, I found this helpful. So, to summarise, the practice part of copywriting. For the next 30-60 days, I will have Writing habit: 1. I will write about anything for 30 days, by setting a 20 min timer ( to kickstart my mind) 2. I can use the 3 writing prompts, for different companies, for 30 days Reading Habit: 3. In the mean time, read 20 min daily. (I can read emails, website content that picks my interest). Also invest in a good course. I hope, I have understood this correctly. I will try these tips. Hi Mike! I've been winging it as a copywriter for over 5 years. I'm a graphic designer and most of my clients assume I will just do this - which is fine because I like doing it! However, a few of the hangups I've encountered are when I deal with co-clients (people who work with my client but aren't part of the marketing team) who second guess what I'm doing. The admin who self-identifies as a proofreader but who doesn't understand marketing jargon. The Keep It Simple guy who is afraid of thinking outside the box. The one manager who favors overusing a particular visual theme, even though it doesn't seem to work, etc. The absolute worst was during my third year as an in-house designer for a sporting goods store. This woman who had once been a high school English teacher (about 30 years ago) had been assigned to QA our copy. She was just supposed to look for legitimate spelling mistakes and typos, but instead began red-penning and re-writing entire ads. "You can't use that line, it's not a complete sentence!" Yes, I know, Karen. It's a slogan. "This sentence is ridiculous, every word starts with the same letter!" Yes, Karen, that's called alliteration and it's intentional. "You can't say 'Make Summer Funner'! 'Funner' is not a word!" FFS, Karen! It's an advertisement, not an MLA format essay, let me do my job-- NO I will not put, "Make Summer More Fun" on our July promo package! I feel like the only reason I had to fight so hard with her was that I had no formal education in copywriting - just a writing hobby, practice, and doing what you said to do here; learning from real-life examples. Nothing I wrote was outlandish, and when I showed them to friends, my high-school-aged niece, and a peer who has a bachelor's in marketing, they all said it was great. When published, the ads were hits, and yet I always had to battle her. I really do feel that the root of the issue was a lacked perception of expert authority because I was self-taught. What resources would you recommend to learn how to justify loose grammar and calculated risk-taking in advertising and copywriting, like Little Ceasar's "Biggest Most Bestest" pizza and "PooPourri"?

Good day, Mike! Thank you for making such an informative video. I watched it all the way through and learned a lot. I realized I needed to improve my reading skills. I have a lot of ideas that I'd like to express through writing, but I don't know where to start. I wanted to be a copywriter despite the fact that I'm not particularly gifted with words. I'm writing this to improve my writing skills. Leaving comments on videos I've watched is how I enhance my writing ability. I tried to follow what you said and write for at least 20 minutes. I need to devote more time and patience to reading and writing. And I know that for those who believe, nothing is impossible. I'll give it a shot whether it takes a month or a year. Because a good copywriter never stops writing. I'm just a regular person leaving a regular life. I'm staying at home and looking for online jobs that fit my schedule. In my spare time, I practice editing by doing simple vlogging on my phone. I never imagined that some of my videos would gain more viewers, and I'm grateful. At the moment, all I want to do is write whatever it takes. Maybe you won't read my comments or just skip over them. But I'm grateful that my first day of writing began today.

I love how easy you make this! And free course makes it so much easier for this 9 to 5'r trying to start a side hustle (and hoping to turn it into a true hustle eventually). I literally paused it on the first exercise and starting writing - the idea was an article/email for dog training/boredom buster ideas for dog owners and it just flowed! I already read at least 20 min a day, so time to start writing 20 min a day too!
