If it's a weekly/bi-weekly podcasts it would be nice to address / talk about recent updates and where they really are in terms on fixes and such. Also guests that are content creators would be interesting and fun. Maybe recent highlights in the game that only devs can see, things like when people pull an onyx from gem bag ect.

Not having to worry about a delay for leagues is nice, however it would also be nice to know a broader date earlier (e.g. "coming Q4/second-half of the year"). At my work we have mandatory 2 week vacation, which I would like to spend on leagues, so I held onto mine throughout summer hoping that leagues will get announced, which fortunately did happen but very late imo (unless we somehow missed confirmation for leagues this year earlier)

The trouble with the old school community is that most of them only play Runescape, so they don't see how great the devs are and how much they have the players interests at heart compared to other games and studios. The direction these guys have taken this game over the last few years is so refreshing as a long time player. In a gaming world filled with microtransactions and poor value for money OSRS is the best its ever been. keep it up guys!

I think for a game like OSRS where there's infinite things to do it's not as important to have a clear release date for updates you just announce them when they are actually ready. Everyone is busy with other content and will come back when there's something new to do! Thank you for this podcast. It was very raw and insightful!
@fabiopauli4202 ай бұрын
i mostly agree unless its stuff like leagues or dmm where you wanna actually take days off to play efficently.
@QPoily2 ай бұрын
I agree. One of my favorite things about pre-EoC RS was getting random content updates. One day you were chilling and vibing, the other day you suddenly had an entirely new quest in the game with cool rewards. The way OSRS works, that isn't a possibility anymore. But it is possible to still "obfuscate" the release date a bit and just throw it out when it's ready.

I'm all for updates like Araxxor, that was a good move by Arcane & the team. Squeezing in stuff like that is very good. It's not game changing, it does fill some niches, it adds more content to the game, it has new boss mechanics, and it doesn't feel out of place. Sure it's a partial copy from RS3 (Not a fan, though I love the quests), but honestly, RS3 has some good content and ideas. Even if you hate it and love osrs, if you look deep enough you can't disagree that some of the quests and bosses in that game are actually really good. Like this series so far, ty osrs team.

For the release schedule thing -- I like having a general timeframe. When you guys roadmap stuff, I think you've done a pretty good job of this. This making the date you announce much more concrete is preferred. As I recall, there was one year that a leagues date was given but then ended up being pushed and that sucked. Other games do that but I think because you guys haven't historically had that approach it was worse. I'd much rather you give a vague time or no time at all until you are certain of the dates. "Leagues sometime this year" ok cool. (August rolls around) "Leagues sometime in Nov" alright, I'm here for it. (October rolls around) "Leagues on Nov 27th". It's a good approach imo.

Enjoyed this format alot! In regards to Ayiza's question about release date preferences at 20:50, I like knowing well in advance roughly when big content updates are coming so that I can at least save some time off for them even if I don't know the exact dates, hell even just knowing which for quarter of the year it is being planned is plenty for me (Summer/Winter summits do a great job at this currently). This could just be my personal opinion but I am pretty confident that most players don't feel they need to know specific release dates for content more than 1-2 months in advance so long as we have known a rough release window for a while before that time.

Regarding your question for announcing releases: for me, I would not really want another 'winter 2017'. I really enjoyed the pod! You spent a good bit of time talking about how open communication channels with the community allow you to be more experimental with content. It came up in the context of negative community feedback so you focused on some instances where experimentation went poorly (DT2 loot tables, etc.) maybe in the next episode you could showcase some instances where the ability to experiment with content and receive feedback has gone well. Personally, I think Colliseum and Hueycoatl are examples of "risky" content that required feedback to refine but wound up in a great place.
