Battlegroup removal makes me a bit sad, but I trust you enough to give 2.0 a thorough go! Excited for the streamlining of the game. Will lead to less late nights after 5-6 hour games 😅

I can't see that anyone has commented on the box on the shelf behind Dave. There's the PHR Box, the Bioficer box and then the top one that has the Scourge symbol on it but is a very different shape - and seemingly a different ship design to all previous Scourge ships! TTCombat are you dropping in highly pixalated teasers in the background of videos?!?! Enquiring Scourge minds wish to know!

Very curious to see how this new version is going to play. Yeah, removing battlegroups is a bit bittersweet for sure but a smoother playing experience is more important imho. I hope that ships will stick around longer than before, there were times in which an exploding little brigade could ignite a firecracker chain reaction a bit too punishing 😅😅 ORDER NOW at the end of the video sounds a bit like DO YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE? Lol, those starship troopers vibes 😎😎

What I'd really like is to be able to buy the models in stl form. I just can't let my kids loose painting stuff that expensive! And they really want to be able to paint those ships. Woe!

I'd like to see some vids on how to build a list and how to play a turn or game being shown. I'll be playing my first demo game of drop zone/drop fleet sometime in Oct. Just looking to get into the game. Looking at the site they show all factions having core set, light ships, frigates, and cruisers as plastic.

If you plan on having the fighters and bombers stick around you have to make minis for them. Cardboard is boring even for stuff that sticks by only for a turn.

the kinetic/energy weapon being differentiated will doa LOT t make factions mroe unique, especially as the Shaltari and Scourge so far have few to no weapons that DONT shoot energy, while the UCM is a lot of kinetics witha few eergy weapons sprinkled in (mainly front-facing lasers) however, I'm puzzled as to what that will mean for Aegis. is the bonus reworked, or flat out removed? Because if its the latter, that will make ships like the Jakarta really sad as it was their one purpose in life

Gutted about the loss of the planning phase. It was one of the best and most interesting components of the game. Having to sequence your turn was really interesting and made for a great challenge.

I think that’s partially why it had to go. Too many different challenges in one game made it unfriendly for new or casual players. I had a hard time getting some friends to play, especially the ones who wanted a simple, fun, quick game of shooty-shooty.

@@brianalice yeah it definitely wasn’t that. But it was marketed as D-day in space. So I wanted something strategic and thoughtful as well as filled with cool explosions.

I would love to see a proper how-to-play on this game. The demo games and battle reports are great, but it's not as comprehensive or concise as a well produced 'how to' would be. When I get some time, I'd like to read the rules as well, but having something easy to consume in the meantime would be greatly appreciated

I'm glad the game is being streamlined. Honestly, we would hardly ever actually finish a full game. Often we would call it at turn 4.

Im Concerned that the removal of battlegroups is gonna cause the game to go SLOWER and not speed up anything. I dont see how activating individual ships and back and forth is gonna be faster then being able to activate several ships back and forth.

Battlegroups are gone not groups, so you still activate several ships together. That so many people don't realise that, shows these two are actually too similar to be both in the game, in my opinion. For speed planning phase gone, no explanation the other player what your battle groups are, no strategic reserve value comparison, no dice rolling if they are equal and no need to wait every activation for one player to decide who goes first. In addition easier to pick the order and if the players are experienced and in a rush, the next player can start measuring their next activation, while the other is still placing ground assets for example. So I think there is a good chance it will speed up the game.

As someone who was planning to get into the game: Battlegroups sounded like one of the most unique and interesting parts of this game, that being gone sounds terrible. People being unable to make decisions will not be fixed by adding more decision points. Wanting to speed up the game and then adding fighers/bombers to the table sounds nonsensical, but maybe y'all figured out a clever way to do it. Looking forward to more plastics, your designs are great but you have some of the worst resin casting in the business.

Does the game still not have any combat resolution flavor? I know in the last version I played ships were just a handful of stats with no armor/system damage boxes, facing, shields, equipment, etc.

This is a fleet scale game. Why would you want to do that much book keeping for 10-20 units?

The planning phase was really good and unique, and let players build groups of ships that operated as a team. Breaking it into a bunch of single ships activating is going to draw out the game as players now have to puzzle about each activation. You've lost lots of strategy and building and I don't think you're going to get big gains in play time from its removal. Turning PD into an "improved" armor save didn't happen. UCM still has a 3+ KE on cruisers. What you have done is homogenized ships, making each one feel more generic and similar to one another. You could have streamlined PD by making it happen on 4+ or better, but by dropping it and reducing it to a KE save you have only 6 values to choose from for every ship in the game, and you know you are going to end up giving everyone 3-5+.

Fair arguments. I am concerned about the removal of battlegroups and the planning phase as well. For the PD I think it could have been turned into a save as well. So one armor save against main weapons and one point defense save against close action and launch assets I'm going to give 2.0 a try but we are keeping 1.0 around. If 2.0 goes wrong we can go back

Having played this game for around 5ish years... The "streamlined rules" do really come across as stripped. No more battle group strat phase is a change I am very unhappy with. I feel like a big emphasis was on not taking you out of the game, having 3 different weapon/ damage types... That's slowing the game down. I think I will be waving this game goodbye 👋 It's been great, I will keep playing first. I appreciate getting the game fired back up but there was better ways to do it. The changes are fundamental changes to the core of the game and it's not for me.

I will hold my opinion until the rules drop FOR FREE (do i look like an idiot), but it sounds like you added in as much as you took away, hopefully for the better. However it feels like you removed the most unique thing about DFC in its battle group and activation. I hope it has not made the game to generic but we will see.
