Dustin was a bit past his prime so the actual match wasn't as great as it COULD HAVE been but its still top 3 all time for me.

Never was a fan of the Goldust character, but Dustin killed it and pretty much everything else he did. Cody's current gimmick is pretty much an updated version of the Natural, and we seen how far he's gone.

Dustin's story of finding his own gimmick and not be his father is almost mirrored by Cody in him trying to find who he was and not be his brother. Seeing how both Dustin and Cody have gotten over is amazing to see. Definitely wrestling royalty.

The amount of blood was extraordinary. Dustin channeled his father. I remember Dusty bleeding a couple of times but Dustin’s was so thick at times it looked chunky. It’s almost a guarantee that many people in the arena were disturbed by this match. I can’t remember another match that stained the mat so badly with blood. Dustin did a great thing for his brother but it was nice to see Cody end the night on a high note.

This is why I love wrestling. Decades of story, spread about different companies, all part of the history of those brothers and part of this one match. The Stardust taunt, the (almost) Shattered Dreams from Goldust, the Figure Four and the reversal, just like Dusty Rhodes and Flair and so much more, all in this match. This match made me very emotional. I love wrestling!

It surprises me how Cody became part of the two of greatest matches in proffesional wrestling history:- 1) His match against his older brother Dustin at AEW and 2) against Roman Reigns at WM 40. These are two of the most legendary matches of all time. The Rhodes family is truly relevant and essential to proffesional wrestling.

People say many wrestling matches are underrated but i don't think any of the matches are way more underrated as this one . If it wasn't for cody vs Dustin AEW wouldn't be the promotion it is now . Let's be honest AEW DoN was above average with all those debuts and Kenny vs Jericho. But this one match elevated this ppv to a whole another level . Being a wrestling fan for a long time watching Dustin vs Cody was actually smth different which was missing from WWE for a long time . This match is the precursor for AEW for where it is now because ppl saw smth different smth more than wrestling and that's truly beautiful

What has always made Cody so special is just who he genuinely is. When he came back to WWE as HIMSELF it just cliqued instantly with everyone who watches. He is just such a cool dude and the connection he makes with fans is crazy. My guess is because he is just a big fan himself so he "gets it". I watched him at a house show sign AT LEAST a thousand autos, take hundreds of pictures, and he had a smile the ENTIRE TIME. You can't fake that and a mere mortal can't do that. "I need my older brother" was so powerful. They BOTH knew it was coming and STILL broke down. The power of the story they told transcends wrestling yet shows the true power behind wrestling. Its the stories told. THAT story is a top 3 ALL TIME. Im not a huge AEW fan but they saw the power in that when WWE whiffed BIG TIME.

There has honestly never been a two part as emotional promo because of the blend of real life and character and fight. Yes there have been more, but honestly this was the pure unification of a Dusty Rhodes story telling. And no one tops it. Because of the vulnerability in the midst of it.

I think their match is legit one of the best ever. It literally made people laugh, cry, and fear for dustins safety. I cant think of any match ever that hsd the same variety of emotions. Cody overdoes the emotional stuff afterwards, but the ending the first time you see it is one of the best conclusions to a match ever.

Never knew this story. Haven't seen Dustin since his Golddust days proby. Thought Cody was Dustin's son when I 1st heard of him. Knew who Dusty was obviously but I just neve watched since early 2000. The attitude era. Loved the video here showing the promos leading up to the event and the match and the speech by Cody had me in tears! Lol. Loved Dustin Rhodes and Dustin Rhodes, even as Golddust. I didn't like watching his Golddust matches at 1st because of the sexual nature of him and it looking "faggy" but his wrestling ability was always on full display and was undeniable and that made me look thru the character and really become a fan of Dustin as a person and wrestler as well as Golddust which became 1 of my fave acts to watch back then. I'm sure the Undertaker agrees. Lol. Great video. Thx
