I love the (ocd) discipline, managing storage of fittings, bagging plugs etc.. I’m sure a lot of people will be saying, “that’s good” and some “oh yes, I hadn’t thought of that”. Great principles and a great library piece for people removing, particularly, GT3 engine/transmission units. So pleased I found your channel. Thank you.

I appreciate the compliments! When you're working on a project of this magnitude staying organized is a life saver.

Amazing to see the powerplant outside of the body. Also, what an opportunity to clean / protect / replace as needed all of the disassembled parts -- especially the body / lighting parts. I don't think that the ziplocks used for protecting the electrical connectors are overkill at all. The cost of a freezer ziplock weighed against hours of troubleshooting or even the replacement cost of a connector / harness is miniscule. That's similar to a photographer putting their gear into a ziplock when bringing it in out of the cold to prevent condensation forming while the gear warms up.

Top work! I’m amazed at how easily you were able to unmarry the unit.

Porsche does a very good job engineering their newer cars to be serviced. In many cases, it is easier to just drop the entire powertrain together instead of pulling off one part for service.

This is a great series. This will be such a stunning Porsche once completed.

Great video.Taking a break working on a damaged Lotus Evora to watch another guy work on damaged Porsche. Lol One thing i like about Lotus is just unbolt entire front and rear subframes and bolt on new. Completely different to unibody repair work.

I also have a soft spot for Lotus. My first major teardown was a 1990 Lotus Esprit SE. I did a full-body engine out rebuild so I feel your pain! Keep up the good work!

this is amazing rebuild series way more in depth (and more damaged) than Matt Armstrongs GT3 rebuild. Glad you added the explanation on the baggies and bolts too ;)

Right on you are doing an outstanding job on the teardown! The last time I took a car apart to the level you have on this Porsche it took me two years to finish the rebuild! That was back in the early eighties on a Red 1970 442 convertible! It was worth it but back then I was a Denny's Restaurant manager and I had to work on it when I had the money for parts and the time as well. It did turn out great and I had a lot of good times driving it here and there! Anyhow well done and I am looking forward to the next video!

When I began working on cars as a kid with my father I had to make do with the money I made cleaning cars and waiting tables so I learned how to fix things myself and reuse as much as possible.

this is amazing. you never see people pulling the engine out of a brand new 911. much less a GT3.

This is purely a passion project, not a car for resale. I am building this GT3 to by my own one-of-one car. That said, I expect when all is said and done (including upgrades) I'll still be way under the current ASP for a GT3
@chanrassun20962 ай бұрын
The car is very new but the output shafts from the transmission have a lot of rust already. This is very expensive car and it should not get rust easily like this.

yo is it possible to put the engine of a 991 gt2rs inside of a 992 gt3rs?

I don’t understand why you needed to take the engine out. I feel like your doing a whole lot of extra work that doesn’t need to be Done

This. Feels like he is making way more videos than needed compared to progress. Feels almost like a howto. But I understand he tries to build a channel so ok.
@responsemotors10 ай бұрын
The engine damaged the inside of the engine bay and there was some damage to the oil tank as well as transmission. I wanted to be safe and check over EVERYTHING on the engine plus do some tasty upgrades prior to getting it back on the road. Dropping the engine honestly is pretty easy on these cars.
@pieterverboven485310 ай бұрын
@@responsemotors Fair enough. I guess I missed you explaining the reason for dropping it in the video (could very well be I skipped through it). With what you've discovered so far its for sure the best to go over everything as you said. Just 'pay attention' to not drag progress in too many seperate videos. The algorithm doesn't like it and so don't most TikTok-attentionspan (non existent) people.
@whobroughtdude223110 ай бұрын
Like always, great work. I’m always so surprised when I see the whole engine being dropped and it not looking outrageously difficult. I feel your pain on the heat, hopefully it starts cooling down here in the South Bay because I’m working on my car outside and I’m dying of sweat! 😂
