You are one of people who inspired me to visit Nordkapp. Although I wasn't crazy enough to do it in the middle of the winter. I drove that route back and forth today. Lovely 20-23 degrees and sun from a cloud free sky. Amazing views.

Some NATO exercise that was Alex. And as for your light conversion, crikey I know plenty of riders who’d buy those off you as a kit. Superb night lights. And always a massive shame when we get close to ending another series. Here’s hoping for a season 4 next year.
@MispronouncedAdventures3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I’ve always been surprised at how in my point of view rubbish the lights were on the eBike I’ve reviewed and tested. But how relatively simple it is to install automotive floodlight and work off the eBay battery. There will definitely be another season

Wow that's something you don't see every day. It was a funny coincidence that the military vehicles in Norway side had Finnish military plates and the trucks transporting tanks in Finnish side had Swedish warning signs for wide load. You found nice lights from Motonet. I will keep them in mind if I will need such lights for some reason. It was funny to watch a winter video from Finland because I spent last week in Joensuu in eastern Finland and those were very hot days.

Would you recommend studded tires for these kind of winter adventures up north ? or just regular snow tires ?
@MispronouncedAdventures3 ай бұрын
I’m not gonna use the word “recommend” here as there is so much variation in vehicles. FWD vs RWD vs 4x4, time of year, weight of vehicle and more. personally I’m a heavy RWD Van. I used BFGoodrich KO2 tyres which are non studded and have all the legal ratings needed for the winter and they have been fantastic. I also only got from January to March. So lots of snow and little to no ice or black out. If I was there during the transition of seasons and mild temperatures, I would want studs. Many of the foreign RWD vans go and have no issues. Many of the FWD vans because the weight isn’t a different spot have issues and usually switch out to studs.

What do you think about the e-transit or e-sprinter? Still too early days for a full ev camper?
@MispronouncedAdventures3 ай бұрын
There are already a few about I think it would depend very specifically on the end users type of trips. Lots of campsites in a country with great charging networks sure Arctic winter maybe less so. Although Norway does have a great EV charging network.

5 seasons. In the terms of technical kit. a “5 season” sleeping bag or kit in general is something which is normally used in Extreme cold, polar regions or high altitude. It’s rating and needs is above and beyond a normal “4 season” or winter sleeping bag

Have you seen the Clayton Power LPS 11 3000? Would love a review but don't think it's really your thing. I was thinking about it for a small stealth van built like a connect. Look good on paper
@matthewwakeham22063 ай бұрын
It's good that it's an all in one but he already has the functionality with the various blue boxes. Plus for £4000 you can build a pretty good system from separate components (if so inclined). I built a basic system with 2.5kwh and 1000 watt output for about £1000 (battery, inverter, shunt, solar charge controller, cables, fuses etc). I used mostly victron gear as it's come down a lot in price. The bonus with separate components is that you know how it works and replace bits if they go wrong.
@andybegbie85533 ай бұрын
@matthewwakeham2206 I was just thinking it's a good small package in a small van. I know the Victron stuff is far better for the money but as a package it could be OK?
@MispronouncedAdventures3 ай бұрын
I’m always interested in trying out and reviewing new things. The Clayton units definitely have a popular in utility and industrial use at the moment. Just like power stations versus traditional systems I think Clayton as well will be greatly suited for different end User needs.

As standard in your day hike bag... perhaps something you can melt snow in? I'm thinking of your trip to the Norway?Finland?Russia border...
@MispronouncedAdventures3 ай бұрын
Melting snow equipment like my jetboil would be dependent on how long I was planning to spend out and how far. A Day trip probably not, even a short day trip with a short overnight probably not. Anything longer, I would probably bring cooking kit anyway.
@norwegiangadgetman3 ай бұрын
@@MispronouncedAdventures My 'emergency stove kit' that I bring if the hike is more than 1 hour out(and one back) consists of a Trangia 210 Mess tin with handle, an Esbit type stove(folds down very compact), a handful of generic tablets, matches, teabags, sugar and soup stock. Everything fits nicely inside the 210.

I'm sure it's a complete coincidence that the biggest NATO exercise in decades is within spitting distance of Russia! 🤘😂 Also, it reminded me of when we were in Geneva on the late 80s. My dad got lost and accidentally drove into a UN building. You could see the soldiers tensing and tightening the grip on their rifles as we casually drove all the way round the courtyard and back out the gate! 😬😂
@MispronouncedAdventures3 ай бұрын
That sounds like quite the experiences in Geneva! It was a huge native exercise, but I was only seeing the Nordic part it was happening all over Europe
