A wild exponential function appeared! You used differentiate It’s not very effective

It is not effective... at all

You used ∂_{any other variable other than the variable on that exponential} It’s super effective

I never knew math could be so entertaining with Pokemon. I guess there should be more of this anime or cartoon connections with math in the future videos.

Getting eigenvalues of +-root 11, how do you get -5, 2 ?

Alas! A practical real world application to diagonalization of a matrix.

anyone else getting positive or negative sqrt(11) for eigenvalues? Can someone show me how to get -5 or 2?
@koenth23592 жыл бұрын
Yeah, λ = +/-sqrt 11 and from there A^2 =11 I. He just Peyagonalized it. From D and P at 5:45 you can reconstruct that he was actually diagonalizing this matrix: [ -4 -2 ] [ -3 1 ] So I guess he had two versions of the problem mixed up in the presentation. Also, at 12:07, where he calculates the expressions P(n) and C(n) I get that the powers of 2 cancel out, so I simply get P_n = 100 • (-5)^n and C_n = 50 • (-5)^n

hahaha 9:00 that marker is so satisfying and I can totally see your surprise and confusion haha.

Actually λ = +/-sqrt 11 and from there A^2 =11 I. This is easily checked by squaring A directly. Also, the result for p1 and c1 at 14:20 is fractional, but only integers could arise from the definition. From D and P at 5:45 you can reconstruct that Dr Peyam was actually diagonalizing this matrix: [ -4 -2 ] [ -3 1 ] So I guess he had two versions of the problem mixed up in the presentation. Also, at 12:07, where he calculates the expressions P(n) and C(n) I get that the powers of 2 cancel out, so I simply get P_n = 100 • (-5)^n and C_n = 50 • (-5)^n

This right there is especially important in probabilities, to solve Markov chains for instance

The outcome was obvious right from the start, as [p1 c1] were clearly both going to be well below zero. Maybe include a scaling factor of 1/100?

Without linear algebra you could determine that Pikachu and C dies after first round , but it would be interesting if someone dies on a large N . I think it was a waste of story.
