Diggle Diaries: An attempt to film all daylight running freight and interesting workings from Diggle Junction. Situated on the picturesque Trans-Pennine, Manchester to Huddersfield and Leeds route, Diggle Jn lies at the top of a steep incline leading into Standedge Tunnel. Providing beautiful scenery, varied freight and trains working hard up the hill, there aren’t many better places for a bit of trainspotting.

I'm gutted I missed the class 50 on the transpennine route wow that's a rarity a class 50 at Huddersfield then at Stalybridge I bet not many 50s have been seen in Manchester since they was built! Nice video as always 👍 👌 😀 👏 🥰

Thanks for this one, we were travelling back from Scotland on the 25th, the journey out on the 23rd was eventful to say the least! we saw the 37 pair at Kinmoor, and 37612 at Picc, I'm glad you filmed that, we were changing trains and I didn't have time for a photo.

Thanks Luke, great selection. It seems a real shame that those beautiful locations, whatever the weather, will, in my opinion, be spoilt by all the overhead stuff when electrification comes. I know it's progress, but it will be a sad day for an old fella like me. Wouldn't it be great if in areas of outstanding natural beauty they had to adopt the third rail system!

Hello, been getting into these and some other similar videos after many years away from trainspotting. A couple of questions if you don't mind. How do you know the details of the origin and destination of each of the trains that go by? Is there a reference of all the acronyms used in the origins and destinations please?

Hi Andy, there’s a few websites you can use but the best one is probably realtimetrains, click on the more control button so you can search detailed and you can find all the information about what’s going through your local station/line. I’m unfamiliar with a lot of acronyms but ones such as: GBRF, DRS, FLHH refer to the freight operators.
