What's the difference between 91 and 92

I don't know that there is any, but the GM parts info was conflicting on the gasket with one reference saying only back to 1992 and another saying only back to 1990. I usually pick the more conservative when I run into this sort of notation. If you find the same GM part number in the video description worked for your 1991, please comment back here.

How does a visual inspection check for blockage? why would you reuse that 20$ rusted cover? thanks.

If the cover doesn't have corrosion perforation, and the owner of the vehicle doesn't request otherwise, it's just cosmetic and perfectly serviceable to reuse original OEM part. We're looking at a quarter century club truck here - you don't need to _fix_ what isn't even broken in order to save the vehicle owner money. A visual inspection can reveal alot about the wear on the teeth of the ring and pinion gears, as well as the spider gears. You can also get some visibility into the axle tubes and shafts. So always a good habit to get into when servicing a rear axle differential.

Is that a Harbor Freight magnetic light you are using or a higher quality one? It seems to work really well.

Yep, works just fine and the battery can be replaced off of eBay or Aliexpress when needed. Like all magnetic accessories though, it's never willing to _stick_ when you need it most. ;-)

Doc, love your videos! They're very detailed and informative. I have 98 k2500 that need to change out the fluids on. Do you have any videos or can suggest a tuber that has a good video for servicing a limited slip 14 bolt GM ?

Thanks. So I show in this vid that very truck, a 1998 Chevrolet K2500 Cheyenne. The service on the AAM 14 bolt 9.5 is the same, whether it's the locking or the open diff. Same lubrication specification, same capacity, same gasket, same fastener torque values.

Nope, in fact it will cause problems to do so. I go over this in the video, from a genuine GM service bulletin advising dealers not to use additives with truck limited slip/locking rears. Those GM additives are only for the smaller / less cover bolts limited slip/positraction type diffs used in old rear wheel drive cars, which is more of a clutch pack design.
