I am a 57 year old women, and I work out for 30-40 minutes a day. Of course during the day, I also get additional informal cardio exercise. I think the reason I am able to maintain daily workouts is because I keep it moderate. If I did actually exercise an hour each day, at my age it would take too long to recover for the next day’s workout. Just a thought for those of us who are a little older. 😊
@llamasugar5478 Жыл бұрын
I’m finding that putting in an extra recovery day (where I do only walking and stretching) is optimal as I’ve gotten older (58). A recent day at an indoor bike park required 3 days of recovery; a couple hours on the trails only needs 24 hours. I used to have a “go big or go home” attitude toward exercise. Doctors like Dr. Dhand helped me understand that-for me at least-this was counterproductive. I try to dial it back, and it really has helped to stress my body less.

Just going to back this up with a personal observation. I have 2 kids that are approximately 8 years apart in age. My first kid was raised with breakfasts consisting of cereal, poptarts, or some other sugary based breakfast that they liked and the commercials seemed to show was good for the kids. They had issues focusing in school and getting really hungry before lunch. When they were about 7 my wife and I had a lightning bolt moment and decided to change our eating habits. For breakfast my kid started getting a meat (sausage, bacon, ham, as example), a fruit (blueberries, banana, orange, as examples), and a grain (usually homemade muffins). Their focus improved and they were no longer getting hungry before lunch like they were. Now, my oldest sits at the breakfast table and tells my youngest how lucky they are they get a real breakfast. My youngest at one time felt robbed because they saw all of the commercials for the poptarts and crap so one time we went camping and I bought a box of poptarts of their choice. They were so happy to get poptarts. For those that don't know poptarts come 2 to a package.....they ate one and couldn't eat the other because it was so sweet that it made them feel sick.

Excellent information Dr. Dhand!! I wish the doctors we see in our health care system would be as proactive, health conscious and pragmatic as you are. Sadly, most aren’t. But I am grateful for your offerings on this channel! Thank you.
