Grew up in a farm in the Philippines and came to US in the mid 70s. I really, really miss my childhood days eating fresh organic fruits and vegetables, home grown chickens and wild caught fish. Very seldom we had meat as it was expensive and my parents couldn’t afford them. Mom made oil from coconuts from our farm. My dad lived up to 95 with zero medications and mom to 98 years old. Educating myself on proper nutrition, I radically changed my diet and staying away from ultra processed food. For the last six years, I’ve been eating mostly organic fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs and chicken. No sodas, coffee or fruit juices for me. Only drink home made ginger tea made of fresh ginger roots. I am now a senior citizen and take zero medications.

Amen. I ate like a teenager into my 40's. Lots of bread, pizza, rice, pasta, and I did not consider the sugar in food. I was obese most of my adult life. I was always the healthy fat guy, until I wasn't! I finally started to feel it a couple years ago, and cut out all processed foods, sugar and most carbs. I lost 150 pounds and felt great for a while. My A1C went from 12 to 5.1. Then I started to have abdominal swelling and was told I have end stage liver disease, with no hope of recovery except for a transplant. All the while, my annual physical and liver tests came back within normal range. I am now sick for the first time in my life and I may not survive. I don't drink or do drugs, my liver disease is a result of a modern diet! Do something while you still can! I can't tell you how much I wish that I woke up 5 years earlier. Thank you Dr Dhand! I'm retired and tend to live on prepared foods. We don't have Canola Oil (specified above as an emulsifier above) in the UK: we have Rapeseed Oil, which is more toxic. It's added to a lot of supermarket prepared foods. One example is "Waitrose Roast Potatoes With Butter". The slice of "butter" which is included in the product is actually butter blended with rapeseed oil. I even found an expensive "healthy" muesli which had rapeseed oil in its list of ingredients. I notice that cooking utensils I use to prepare chips, roast potatoes, roast vegetables, etc., require lots of hot water and extra washing-up liquid, as the rapeseed oil tends to persist. It can't be very healthy. Another example of dishonesty in our food labelling is "Yoghourt with Honey". Look down the list of ingredients and you'll see that they mix the honey with sugar to make it taste sweeter. Now I buy plain yoghourt and sweeten it with honey (I never buy the flavoured stuff). Not everyone reads the list of ingredients, of course.

I cannot walk through the grocery store and even consider buying or eating 90% of what is in there. I've spent my life eating basically everything - fast food, junk food, restaurant food - it was all fine. But I guess with age, something changes, and we start seeing things for what they are. I used to love Publix fried chicken from the deli. Best voted fried chicken in the area. I passed it today, and was so repelled by the idea of eating it, I surprised myself. I stick now to whole foods as much as possible. Everything processed almost is just crammed with chemicals, salt, sugar, seed oils and now there are bugs in there. If I'm going to eat a bug, it will be because it got caught in the fresh broccoli I cooked.

Some years ago, I watched a programme about ice cream i.e. the type, mostly soft scoop, that fills supermarket freezers, in which they let it melt, the resulting mess was horrible to look at and I've rarely bought any since (exception Haagen-Daz which isn't UPF). Instead, I bought an ice cream maker and made my own, it's so easy.

Great review of food chemicals Dr Dhand. Please continue to do more of the same. The evils of E Numbers in foods were taught in schools ( science, home economics) around 30years ago. Currently this isn't on the curriculum. People need to be informed. Actually around 30 years ago, the EU had tough legislation on all food companies, that they had to list ALL these additives on the products labels. It seems that the legislation about displaying E Numbers have either been relaxed or not monitored, because many drinks CLAIMING to be fresh fruit drinks, don't mention any type of additive. Surely there must be using preservatives, colourings, stabilisers of some sort, but no mention is made. This begs the question: has the rot of corruption and concealment also invaded the EU regarding food quality and safety? Please continue educating the general public because it sure isn't being done by the FDA or EU. Thanks again Dr Dhand for all your hard work compiling the research and presenting it to us in layman's terms.

I agree! I grew up during the big tobacco thing. People don’t realize that people smoked in restaurants on planes in hospitals on buses in movie theaters even my first year of college people smoked in the classrooms. People on soap operas smoked, there were cigarette commercials. People at Disneyland smoked, gas station attendants smoked while filling your gas tank. Everyone smoked everywhere and no one seemed to know it was killing them. I well remember the struggle it was to put an end to that and many people were very unhappy about it. But this is worse because of the children.

Yes, thank goodness that dramatically decreased the cases of lung cancer deaths, just like the number of drunk drivers on the road decreased since the penalties got harsher huh? Is drunk driving or distracted driving worse? The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that driving while texting is six times more dangerous than driving drunk. Reading or sending a text takes your eyes off the road for about five seconds.Jul 21, 2022

Not to be contrary, but there are studies from around ten years ago showing how nicotine prevents fluoride from crossing the blood-brain barrier into the brain and calcifying parts of the brain and lowering IQ. Fluoride was used by the Nazis in the concentration camps to sedate the prisoners. Nicotine has more recently been proven to be the only known substance to prevent spike proteins from passing into the brain. In the earlier study, it was also noted that the big anti-smoking campaign in the US began at the same time widespread fluoridation of public water supplies was instituted. Also, lung cancer has never been found in high numbers in other countries where the populations are smokers. It has been proven time and again it isn't tobacco that is the primary cancer-causing agent, but the 1,100+ chemicals added to US cigarettes and why in many countries it is illegal to sell American cigarettes. Hmmm....I am not advocating smoking. It is an expensive and offensive addiction. And like all addictions leads to overconsumption which is always detrimental to health. Be it alcohol, sugar, porn, etc...I am saying there are therapeutic aspects to nicotine and demonizing it has swung the pendulum too far and serves other agendas. God Bless.

People smoke weed now instead of tobacco. I have felt the secondhand effects when I once went into a night club to listen to music - never again. Drugs cause brain damage and lung problems but those who smoke weed insists that it is so good for them - with their droopy eyes and lack of motivation telling me the opposite.

In case anyone is confused about where to start or a rough template of what to eat to feel great and avoid most of the crap… Breakfast: Good quality bacon (Nitrate-free), pasture raised eggs and grass fed butter… Dinner: Grass fed Steak and butter… Hydration: Water from a glass bottle whenever thirsty, can even slice a whole lemon or lime and keep it in your glass the whole day… Don’t eat unless you feel hungry and stop when full… Avoid alcohol… If hungry again before bed, a glass of full-cream milk with some eggs whisked in works wonders and gives your body all the fats and nutrients it needs for hormone production during sleep. Hope this helps!

Thank you for sharing this! For anyone reading, the gum emulsifiers are commonly found in dairy free nut milks and gluten free foods, plus regular ice creams. And if you buy wet food for your dogs and cats, they are almost always in there too. I have managed to find two pet food brands that make products without them - Hound & Gatos and Tiki Cat. Some of the products contain them but the Tiki Cat After Dark does not. In addition to these gums being toxic, they are not digestable and often cause G.I problems in humans and pets. The Hound & Gatos brand uses agar agar to thicken the product, and I believe it is a safe ingredient, but if anyone - or Dr. Dhand has any info or guidance on that, please share. Thanks for another important video.

Those chemicals are present in many natural foods. It's probably processed foods themselves, which are the problem, rather than any specific ingrediant. For example consuming fructose in a couple of apples, has a completely different effect on the body, than fructose glucose corn syrup in a fizzy drink. Dry food is also pretty bad for pets, especially cats, who normally get most of their fluid from their food. You're better off giving your pet natural foods, such as offal and fish heads.
@Cali_Flowers Жыл бұрын
@@alunjones3860If it was present in natural foods, why is it added on the label then? I know when a “gum” is listed, I will have an issue. If I can find a similar item without the gum on the ingredient list, I don’t. But The Sun article (linked in description) has a list of emulsifiers (which are not gums) that I never knew of, which is interesting to your point! I just happened to know that specifically “gums” aren’t good at all for me in particular.… So actually, I don’t know if it is the emulsifier characteristic or only when it is a gum that it is a noticeable problem. I should cook something with canola oil and experiment, I guess, haha! But it seems that even the emulsifiers themselves are processed for adding into goods. So that is another level of processing.

I literally don’t even know what to eat anymore. I knew about Aspartame and avoid it completely. The emulsifiers, I didn’t know, but I recognize those ingredients from reading labels. I’m an avid label reader and try to be very careful what I eat. I have a very sensitive gut. I live in the U.S. and our food is AWFUL here. Also, if you go to a restaurant the portion sizes are gigantic and they act put out if you ask to order from the child’s menu or for a half portion. I’m a tiny woman and I don’t need enough food for the next 3 days in one meal 😅.

Finally a true professional speaks truth! I found myself have bad reactions to emulsifiers! I had so many doctors and hospitals visits tried to find out why I have bad allergies on my skin and especially on my lips. I asked if that was because of an allergy to emulsifiers. All the doctors said no. One of them even asked me how can you approve it? So I gave up seeing them. I tried my best to avoid them while I am doing the shopping.
