I was a young kid roaming through the record store and seen 10cc’s first album on the rack. Not knowing anything about the band I bought it solely because of the cover artwork. When I got home and started playing the album I was hooked for life. Fantastic band that never got the attention it deserved.

At times the production and songwriting on this album are up there with mythical albums like SMiLE and Sgt. Pepper.

Beautifully composed and artful song, from one of the greatest LP's of the 1970's. The whole record is brilliant, with its balance of perfect pop, raw creativity; satirical throughout and poignant from start to finish. More gizmo!

How do you remaster something that was already masterful? The production levels of 19CC were never more than immaculate. A truly wonderful group of musicians.

"Down on the casting couch". Sadly, this reminds me of Harvey Weinstein now. A perfect song perfectly performed. I bought this when it came out and have loved it ever since. I was singing it with a friend yesterday. We both still knew all the words.

I was thinking exactly the same thing, but it also cut both ways. Many women in this era, such as Marilyn Monroe and Joan Crawford, used to have sex with film producers, in order to secure film roles. In the 20's, it was common for them to go straight from one directors casting couch, to another's on the same day and do whatever was asked for. Often not even bothering to get washed and changed in between "auditions"! Weinstein is one of a long list of many, but back in the day it was never talked about as women did not have a voice. Many feminists would say they were exploited and were forced by abusive men, but that is not totally true in every case. The more successful starlets openly used their sexuality, and were pretty matter of fact and business like about it. For a female actress to succeed back in those days, they had to be pretty accommodating. Even their male leads, especially the A list actors, were all in on it. So the name Hollywood became basically a euphemism for a seedy brothel.
